“Happy Being Us” Web Training Application Spring 2016
Designed a web application to help young daughters build good body images about themselves.
Created the Controllers, Services and Dao using J2EE to implement the logical business part.
Designed the SQL Database by MySQL to store data of user and training materials.
Provided the interface for the admin to post new training materials and manage the existed materials.
Built up the training pages using JavaScript to provide users a friendly interface to go through the training materials.
Utilized Junit to test each component of the application and confirm the code quality.
Released the first version on Amazon Web Service to make our application available for the public.
Optimization for Lucene and BM25 Search Engines Spring 2016
Performed query expansions by Java on Lucene using pseudo-relevance feedback and thesaurus techniques to
ameliorate the relevance between search results and queries.
Applied stopping words to Lucene and BM25 search engines by Java and reduced the number of incorrect results.
Compared optimized search engines with the baselines of Lucene search engine and BM25 search engine, gained a
22% and 8% improvement in terms of Mean Average Precision respectively.
“MyStereo” Music Management Web Application Spring 2015
Designed a web application using Java and JSP to search and manage information of songs, albums and artists.
Set up the corresponding MySQL database system for the web application to realize the data interactions between
web and the underlying database.
Retrieved the JSON data from a public music web API, stored and maintained the data in MySQL.
Enhancement for XV6 OS Spring 2015
Implemented the multi-level feedback queuing policy by C to improve the efficiency of the xv6 scheduler.
Designed a small library to fix the insufficiency of xv6 and make it support the basic thread creation, thread join and
locks.
