your Company.
•  Always display courteousness (yes, courteousness is a real word)
•  Technology provided is to be used for Company business
purposes.
•  Failures to protect client and employee information
(electronic and hard copy) is a serious offense with serious
penalties.

and take necessary precautions to ensure compliance.

Penalties under HIPAA
Failure to comply = $100/violation
Wrongful disclosure = maximum of
$250,000 fine and 10 year prison

Balancing rights and risks. Some simple, straightforward guidelines:
•  Follow Company policy – anti-harassment, confidentiality,
privacy, etc. - all apply to social networking and personal
websites too.
•  Comply with federal and state laws (HIPAA, etc.)
•  Once you post online you have no control over the
destinations of that message from that point on – give that
real thought prior to posting or blogging to avoid unintended
consequences.
•  Do not engage in online personal activities while at work.
•  To post on behalf of your Company, we have a dedicated
Social Media Coordinator to help you navigate the waters.

Most employees receive a number of tools to help them do their job.
If you or your employee is issued company property you will need to
ensure the following steps are taken:
1.  Acknowledgement Form signed by the employee
formalizing their receipt of Company Property at the time
of issuance.
2.  Ensure Company Property is returned at the time of
termination (voluntary or involuntary) or suspension.
