Use a wrist strap with a band that can be washed or replaced. The band of any wrist strap will absorb oils and dirt from the operator’s skin. To ensure consistent contact with the operator a band should be washed or replaced when needed. In some cases a standard 6 foot coil cord does not allow the operator enough freedom of movement in their work area. Coil cords are manufactured in two styles: rapid retraction and relaxed retraction. Rapid retraction is similar to the instant “snap-back” you get from a phone cord. Relaxed retraction is a much gentler retraction that can take a few minutes to fully retract. The pull of rapid retraction cords can be uncomfortable to an operator if they have to fight the pull throughout the work day.
