Essay on OSI Model
OSI Model During the past two decades there has been a tremendous increase in the numbers and sizes of networks. Many of the networks, however,
were built using different implementations of hardware and software. As a result, many of the networks were incompatible and it became difficult for
networks using different specifications to communicate with each other. To address this problem, the International Organization forStandardization
(ISO) researched many network schemes. The ISO recognized that there was a need to create a network model that would help network builders
implement networks that could communicate and work together (interoperability) and therefore, released the OSI reference model in 1984. This

This motion of objects, whether it is physical or logical, is referred to as flow. There are many layers that help describe the details of the flow process.
Other examples of systems that flow, are the public water system, the highway system, the postal system, and the telephone system. Now examine
the Figure "Comparing Networks" chart. What network are you examining? What is flowing? What are the different forms of the object that is
flowing? What are the rules for flow? Where does the flow occur? The networks listed in this chart give you more analogies to help you understand
computer networks. Another example of how you might use the concept of layers to analyze an everyday subject is to examine human conversation.
When you create an idea that you wish to communicate to another person, the first thing you do is choose how you want to express that idea, then
you decide how to properly communicate it, and finally, you actually deliver the idea. Imagine a young boy seated at one end of a very long dinner
table. On the other end of the table, quite a distance away, sits the young boy's grandmother. The youngster speaks English. The grandmother prefers
to speak Spanish. The table has been set with a wonderful meal that the grandmother has prepared. Suddenly the young boy shouts at the top of his
lungs, "Hey, you! Give me the rice!" and reaches across the table to grab it. In most places, this action is considered quite rude. What

English 102 Essay
The reason I decided to take English 102 this fall semester is because it is a required course for my career path. I am currently pursuing a nursing
degree and one of the many required classes that must be completed prior to achieving my goal is this English course. This English class is
primarily a requirement for school but I hope to obtain new knowledge as well. What I hope to gain from taking this course is a better
understanding of how to write correctly, to be grammatically correct that is. Also, I hope to learn from others by taking this course, not only the
instructor but my fellow students. I want to step out of my comfort zone and not be so timid, so that I am able to understand how others think and
comprehend this subject. As of right now I have no set expectations for this course, I only hope that it is new information and that it gives me a better
understanding of how I need to write and think as far as English goes. I have decided that I would like to pursue a career as a registered nurse that

My role model is Mother Teresa, she is one of the most inspiring people in the world. Mother Teresa cared about others that were in need. She
doesn't have any selfish bone in her body. Mother Teresa is caring, selfless, religious and a risk taker. She motivates me to be a better person, and
this is why I chose her as my role model. Mother Teresa is very compassionate, she dedicated her entire life to helping others. She showed so much
compassion and used this to help the people around the world. As Mother Teresa once said " Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small
things with great love." Mother Teresa loves all of those around her, she even finds the good in every person she meets. When Mother Teresa visited

For all of the selfless acts that Mother Teresa have done makes me want to be non–selfish and to take risks in life. I remember this quote that Mother
Teresa have said that makes me want to help others and care for them. This quote says "Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for
being wanted, for having someone to call their own." This makes me realize that everyone wants to be cared for not just the poor, which helps me
be more selfless. Mother Teresa was very courageous and selfless. Mother Teresa was very religious even in her early years. Analyzing her deeds
and achievements, John Paul II asked: " Where did Mother Teresa find strength and perseverance to place herself completely at service of others?
She found it in prayer and in silent contemplation of Jesus Christ, his Holy Face, his Sacred Heart." Her life was devoted to God, throughout her acts
of mercy, she never lost faith she had to the lord. Everyone she helped, she sees the face of Jesus. When Mother Teresa was born in August 26th, she
considered her birthday August 27th, the day she was baptized, to be her "true birthday." Mother Teresa is very open minded, she was open to change,
though she saw none at the time. She was open–minded to a new world, free of poverty and suffering. Mother Teresa was open minded to other
religons, in Calcutta most patients were Hindu, yet she never tried to convert them to Christianity, telling them instead that they

For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I
talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for
ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a
lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime.
I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that
my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to
write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on
reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of
learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content...
Of course, there are certain defects or gaps in my knowledge or ability to use the English language like using idioms and the appropriateness of some
vocabulary. Idioms have many connotations and denotations in the English language. Sometimes I use an idiom and I mean something, but the
connotations of the idiom means something else. Another gap of my knowledge of the language is the appropriateness of using certain vocabulary.
English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point

Approaches To Language Development Essay
Approaches to language development
The learning theory (behaviorism) approach to language acquisition proposes that language is learned through reinforcement and conditioning. An
early explanation for the acquisition of language was given by behaviorist and psychologist B. F. Skinner. Skinner explained the phenomenon of
language development as a result of environmental influence. He argued that children learn language due to behaviorist reinforcement by associating
words with meaning. He attributed learning to positive reinforcement given to correct utterances, such as asking for milk and receiving it. Children will
find the outcome of receiving what they have asked for rewarding, which will enhance their language development. Behaviorism does not fully explain
language development as children are able to come up with unique sentence structures on their own and not just those that have been specifically
reinforced. It is possible that reinforcement, imitation, and modeling are supplementary to language acquisition instead of the rule.
The nativist approach to language development addresses some of the issues with the learning theory approach to language development. It suggests
that learning language is an in–born process and that humans have an innate ability to learn and understand language as well as its more complex
structures. Neural cognitive research supports the nativist approach as it has found brain structures related to and responsible for language as well as

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

English 101 has been such an adventure. I know that sounds corny, but I just couldn't help myself. When I decided to do a short–term English class, I

that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate

My Role Model In School
Growing up, I had supportive but strict parents and three older siblings to use as my role models. When I say my parents are strict, it stems from
the fact that my dad is a Baptist pastor. Given that my dad is a pastor; my parents expected me and my siblings to go to school, church, and
participate in extracurricular activities before or after school. So, I didn't miss school unless I had to, I went to church every Sunday and I
participated in fellowship of Christian athletes and band. My Sunday school teachers expected that I would have all my bible verses memorized
ahead of time in AWANA. My band director expected that I had practiced a lot for auditions and that I would get first chair because he knew my

All in all, I had a great support system during my childhood which has helped shape me into who I am today, a goodie little two shoes, some would
say. Now that I am almost entirely independent from my parents, I still enjoy things that I enjoyed as a child such as going to church, spending time
outside and seeing my family. However, I also enjoy things I didn't experience growing up such as playing pool, traveling to places of my choice, or
volunteering at places of my choice such as a nursing home. I have been working at an assisted living facility for two years now and I love
working in geriatrics. I never would have known that as a child because I didn't experience volunteering with elderly people. My grandparents were
the only elderly people I had contact with and while they were awesome, just the two of them couldn't fuel my decision to work in geriatrics. I
needed to experience being around a variety of elderly people because not all of them are as kind, patient and positive as my grandparents. I feel that I
have my own identity now that I can choose how I want to spend my free time. While my beliefs and values may be similar to what my parents
instilled in me at a young age, they have become my own set of beliefs that define me. People always ask me what I want to do when I am done with
school. Right now the answer seems pretty straight

English 111
Upon entering English 111 on–line class, I had not taken an English class on–line before. In the past I have taken several other basic classes. English

choose to take them in a classroom setting. I also will try to be more diligent in getting my assignments completed correctly the first time and on

Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric,
provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a
clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject

improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate

Essay On English Language Teaching
English Language Teaching Methods
Many countries in Asia like China, Japan, UAE, Sri Lanka, Singapore etc., adopted English as a foreign language not as a second language. Because
considering English as a second language and as a Foreign Language is different in their view point. They view that outside of the classroom, English
is not that much useful. They teach all the subjects in their mother tongue but in India if one is unable to speak in English he becomes a tabooed
person. Many Asian countries treat the pupil's age, sex, race, attitude, intelligence and grasping power in teaching English. Indian teachers neglect this
aspect. For ex: a speaker from Hyderabad emphasizes more vowels before many words because of the influence of Urdu. Straight – Istraight. And a
Bihari pronounces 'sh' as 's' because of the influence of Kharboli. Teachers don't take into consideration of this aspect and mistreat students. So teachers
have to choose the methodology as suit their classroom and environment. If teacher takes all the factors into consideration classroom becomes more
meaningful. All the methods are not meaningful when teacher choose them as per the needs of the classroom.

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English
provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English
is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young
age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to
further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any
other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very
challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in
my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while
hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my
thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this

Essay On OSI Model

  • 1. Essay on OSI Model OSI Model During the past two decades there has been a tremendous increase in the numbers and sizes of networks. Many of the networks, however, were built using different implementations of hardware and software. As a result, many of the networks were incompatible and it became difficult for networks using different specifications to communicate with each other. To address this problem, the International Organization forStandardization (ISO) researched many network schemes. The ISO recognized that there was a need to create a network model that would help network builders implement networks that could communicate and work together (interoperability) and therefore, released the OSI reference model in 1984. This chapter explains how...show more content... This motion of objects, whether it is physical or logical, is referred to as flow. There are many layers that help describe the details of the flow process. Other examples of systems that flow, are the public water system, the highway system, the postal system, and the telephone system. Now examine the Figure "Comparing Networks" chart. What network are you examining? What is flowing? What are the different forms of the object that is flowing? What are the rules for flow? Where does the flow occur? The networks listed in this chart give you more analogies to help you understand computer networks. Another example of how you might use the concept of layers to analyze an everyday subject is to examine human conversation. When you create an idea that you wish to communicate to another person, the first thing you do is choose how you want to express that idea, then you decide how to properly communicate it, and finally, you actually deliver the idea. Imagine a young boy seated at one end of a very long dinner table. On the other end of the table, quite a distance away, sits the young boy's grandmother. The youngster speaks English. The grandmother prefers to speak Spanish. The table has been set with a wonderful meal that the grandmother has prepared. Suddenly the young boy shouts at the top of his lungs, "Hey, you! Give me the rice!" and reaches across the table to grab it. In most places, this action is considered quite rude. What Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. English 102 Essay The reason I decided to take English 102 this fall semester is because it is a required course for my career path. I am currently pursuing a nursing degree and one of the many required classes that must be completed prior to achieving my goal is this English course. This English class is primarily a requirement for school but I hope to obtain new knowledge as well. What I hope to gain from taking this course is a better understanding of how to write correctly, to be grammatically correct that is. Also, I hope to learn from others by taking this course, not only the instructor but my fellow students. I want to step out of my comfort zone and not be so timid, so that I am able to understand how others think and comprehend this subject. As of right now I have no set expectations for this course, I only hope that it is new information and that it gives me a better understanding of how I need to write and think as far as English goes. • 3. My role model is Mother Teresa, she is one of the most inspiring people in the world. Mother Teresa cared about others that were in need. She doesn't have any selfish bone in her body. Mother Teresa is caring, selfless, religious and a risk taker. She motivates me to be a better person, and this is why I chose her as my role model. Mother Teresa is very compassionate, she dedicated her entire life to helping others. She showed so much compassion and used this to help the people around the world. As Mother Teresa once said " Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Mother Teresa loves all of those around her, she even finds the good in every person she meets. When Mother Teresa visited India, she...show more content... For all of the selfless acts that Mother Teresa have done makes me want to be non–selfish and to take risks in life. I remember this quote that Mother Teresa have said that makes me want to help others and care for them. This quote says "Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own." This makes me realize that everyone wants to be cared for not just the poor, which helps me be more selfless. Mother Teresa was very courageous and selfless. Mother Teresa was very religious even in her early years. Analyzing her deeds and achievements, John Paul II asked: " Where did Mother Teresa find strength and perseverance to place herself completely at service of others? She found it in prayer and in silent contemplation of Jesus Christ, his Holy Face, his Sacred Heart." Her life was devoted to God, throughout her acts of mercy, she never lost faith she had to the lord. Everyone she helped, she sees the face of Jesus. When Mother Teresa was born in August 26th, she considered her birthday August 27th, the day she was baptized, to be her "true birthday." Mother Teresa is very open minded, she was open to change, though she saw none at the time. She was open–minded to a new world, free of poverty and suffering. Mother Teresa was open minded to other religons, in Calcutta most patients were Hindu, yet she never tried to convert them to Christianity, telling them instead that they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime. I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content... Of course, there are certain defects or gaps in my knowledge or ability to use the English language like using idioms and the appropriateness of some vocabulary. Idioms have many connotations and denotations in the English language. Sometimes I use an idiom and I mean something, but the connotations of the idiom means something else. Another gap of my knowledge of the language is the appropriateness of using certain vocabulary. English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Approaches To Language Development Essay Approaches to language development The learning theory (behaviorism) approach to language acquisition proposes that language is learned through reinforcement and conditioning. An early explanation for the acquisition of language was given by behaviorist and psychologist B. F. Skinner. Skinner explained the phenomenon of language development as a result of environmental influence. He argued that children learn language due to behaviorist reinforcement by associating words with meaning. He attributed learning to positive reinforcement given to correct utterances, such as asking for milk and receiving it. Children will find the outcome of receiving what they have asked for rewarding, which will enhance their language development. Behaviorism does not fully explain language development as children are able to come up with unique sentence structures on their own and not just those that have been specifically reinforced. It is possible that reinforcement, imitation, and modeling are supplementary to language acquisition instead of the rule. The nativist approach to language development addresses some of the issues with the learning theory approach to language development. It suggests that learning language is an in–born process and that humans have an innate ability to learn and understand language as well as its more complex structures. Neural cognitive research supports the nativist approach as it has found brain structures related to and responsible for language as well as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When I decided to do a short–term English class, I thought it would be fun and challenging; My expectations were correct. As I write this reflection, I look back on the topics and assignments that existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I experienced which creating the creative project, what I learned from the beginning of class to the end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos, pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. The multi model project brought tears to my eyes and I do not mean tears of joy. At first I loved my ideas and was excited about the outcome, but my stress and nervousness...show more content... • 11. My Role Model In School Growing up, I had supportive but strict parents and three older siblings to use as my role models. When I say my parents are strict, it stems from the fact that my dad is a Baptist pastor. Given that my dad is a pastor; my parents expected me and my siblings to go to school, church, and participate in extracurricular activities before or after school. So, I didn't miss school unless I had to, I went to church every Sunday and I participated in fellowship of Christian athletes and band. All in all, I had a great support system during my childhood which has helped shape me into who I am today, a goodie little two shoes, some would say. Now that I am almost entirely independent from my parents, I still enjoy things that I enjoyed as a child such as going to church, spending time outside and seeing my family. However, I also enjoy things I didn't experience growing up such as playing pool, traveling to places of my choice, or volunteering at places of my choice such as a nursing home. I have been working at an assisted living facility for two years now and I love working in geriatrics. I never would have known that as a child because I didn't experience volunteering with elderly people. My grandparents were the only elderly people I had contact with and while they were awesome, just the two of them couldn't fuel my decision to work in geriatrics. I needed to experience being around a variety of elderly people because not all of them are as kind, patient and positive as my grandparents. I feel that I have my own identity now that I can choose how I want to spend my free time. While my beliefs and values may be similar to what my parents instilled in me at a young age, they have become my own set of beliefs that define me. English has always been a struggle for me, mainly writing and grammar. Neither, writing or grammar has come natural to me. The biggest challenge for me is putting my thoughts into words. Currently I am employed full time, and also hold a part time position along with being a wife, and mother of two children. By furthering my education, I can improve our future. Pushing ahead, I hope that I can achieve my goals to become a nurse. I know that there will be more English classes in my future. I think I will choose to take them in a classroom setting. I also will try to be more diligent in getting my assignments completed correctly the first time and on time. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. For ex: a speaker from Hyderabad emphasizes more vowels before many words because of the influence of Urdu. Straight – Istraight. And a Bihari pronounces 'sh' as 's' because of the influence of Kharboli. Teachers don't take into consideration of this aspect and mistreat students.
