SCHOOL MANAGEMENT
ANS 1 –
Definition of School Management
The term 'management' encompasses an array of different functions undertaken to accomplish a task successfully. In the simplest of terms,
management is all about 'getting things done'. However, it is the way and the process of how one achieves ones target or goals and it is in this respect
that management is considered an art and a science as well.
Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities)
or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. Resourcing encompasses the deployment and manipulation of human resources, financial resources,
technological resources, and natural...show more content...
* Organizing: (Implementation) making optimum use of the resources required to enable the successful carrying out of plans. * Staffing: Job
analyzing, recruitment, and hiring individuals for appropriate jobs. * Leading/Directing: Determining what needs to be done in a situation and getting
people to do it. * Controlling/Monitoring: Checking progress against plans. * Motivation: Motivation is also a kind of basic function of management,
because without motivation, employees cannot work effectively. If motivation doesn't take place in an organization, then employees may not
contribute to the other functions (which are usually set by top level management).
Hierarchy of Management
The management of a large organization may have about five levels: 1. Senior management (or "top management" or "upper management") 2. Middle
management 3. Low–level management, such as supervisors or team–leaders 4. Foreman 5. Rank and File
Definition of School Administration
the system of rules, punishments and behavioral strategies appropriate to the regulation of children and the maintenance of order in schools. Its aim is
to create a safe and conducive learning environment in the classroom.
School administration has two main goals: (1) ensure the safety of staff and students, and (2) create an environment conducive to learning. Serious
student misconduct involving violent or criminal behavior defeats these goals and often makes headlines in the process.

Persuasive Essay On School Dress Code
School Community Dress Code Most educational institutions all across the country implement restrictions on what students wear when they are on
school grounds. These restrictions include dress codes that address what students can and cannot wear. The argument with dress codes and uniforms is
that it helps students perform better in school by limiting distractions, while others claim that restricting what a student can wear at school can limit
their freedom of expression. The immediate answer to the question "Should schools be able to control what students wear?" is a yes, all schools must
have control over what students wear in the school premise within the bounds of a dress code to establish an appropriate learning environment.
Moreover, educational institutions must enable school communities to take a more active role in updating the dress code by voting. Schools create
general dress codes that try to compromise both parties, and it's not easy. According to the Associated Press, "people have different notions of what's
appropriate and what's not – and what's distracting, and what's not." Standard dress codes set common rules to address the issue of what is right or
wrong for a student to wear to school. Common themes for the dress code include the length of shorts and skirts; clothing with bare shoulder and
midriffs; and clothing with illegal, profane, or suggestive content. Even some clothing restrictions are vaguely described as "appropriate length" or
"fingertip rule"

Importance Of Rules In School
According to Chapalin he stated that, In schools there are two types of rules, there are whole school rules created to encourage a safe and pleasant
environment around the school grounds. There are also classroom rules, which are used to maintain an effective learning environment within the
classroom. 'Effective rules provide pupils with a physically and psychologically safe predictable environment' (Chapalin 2003 quoted by James Arthur
et al, page 107)
As adults were all have to obey society's rules and routines, eg pay our bills, wait in queues and not steal others things. As adults, we know these as
laws, customs and good manners and learn the consequences of breaking them. Students need to learn how to behave and teachers can use rules and
routines to help them do this and consequently create an appropriate learning environment.
A simple positive behaviour strategy used in all schools is the use of rules. A rule in the classroom is principle that generally governs thepupil's
behaviour.
It is vital that a rule is effective in order to create the correct setting. 'Whatever the rule, it should be established quickly, with firmness and consistency.'
(Yeomans and Arnold 2006).
I will develop classroom rules within the first week or two of the school year, 'this helps build a natural readiness and expectation of pupils' (Classroom
Behaviour, by Bill Rogers, page 27). Pupils must be aware and agree with the rule in order for them to respect it. I will achieve this by

School Discipline Essay
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
A. BACKROUND OF THE RESEARCH
Discipline plays an important role towards the formation of students' character. It is one of the important components in a system where closely related
to the discipline, nature, morality and decency. The word discipline is one thing that is synonymous in daily life. The word discipline is so broad
meaning either meaning negative or positive sense. However, the negative meaning that often become the focus and is becoming an issue that is

A Reflection Essay On School Policies
Reflective Essay on School Policies.
When it comes to following school policies every teacher should be aware of what is in the student handbook. This tool is used to shed light on the
different policies that the district holds parents, students and teachers accountable to. I am going to be honest and say before this essay I had not
looked at the Round Lake Area School District 116 School Handbook. The reason why I have not looked at the handbook is the fact that almost all
handbooks spell out the same policies. In this essay I will discuss the different policies and how I think my school district could improve on their
policies. All school districts have a wide range of students who are each unique and with Round Lake that is still the case. In this district we have
students that have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental disabilities, autism, add/adhd, communication disorders, and emotional/behavior
disorders. When it comes to these students my district follows the rules that have been put in place through the IDEA Act that was started in 1975 and
revised in 2004. One thing that I struggle with in my district is their use of teacher assistants. Some special education classrooms have teacher
assistants which is helpful to meet the needs of the students, but at my district they will not put a one to one aide on a student's IEP. I feel that this is a
disservice to the students and I feel that they do this in order to save some money. Some students don't

Persuasive Essay On School Rules
I personally love CMS. It may not be the best school in the world, but it sure is a good one. I'm lucky to go here. I try my best not to complain too
much about the school because I could be going to a school with no air conditioning, shared classrooms, or worse. There are many, many aspects I
love about this school, but there are also a few policies and rules that I do notdon't exactly agree with. Some of these policies and rules I would like to
see changed are the ones concerning dress code and pay–to–play. The first policy I would like to address is the dress code. I know that we are very
lucky to not have uniforms and be able to wear whatever we want as long as it abides to the dress code. Although I think that our school's dress
code is a lot better and less strict than other schools, there are still a few rules in the dress code I find myself disagreeing with and sometimes even
breaking. There are many rules I agree with including sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 regarding dress code in the student handbook. There are also many
rules I do not agree with including sections 5, 6, 7, and 9. Section 5 is titled YOGA and states in all simplicity that skin tight pants are not to be
worn unless a fingertip length shirt is worn with them. I break this rule an awful lot, almost everyday. I have noticed that the staff this year has
been very lax with this rule (I would hope so after seeing some of the shorts girls wore at the beginning of the year and not get dress coded for).
That does notn't change the fact that it is still in the dress code and if any member of the staff wanted to they could dress code me. Technically,
even for wearing skinny jeans which are basically the only jeans I wear and I know that's the same scenario with many other girls. Then again, I
feel like this rule is completely ignored which makes me even more confused as to why this whole section is needed. I don't think anyone wearing
leggings, skinny jeans, or yoga pants are going to make anyone distracted or make students here at CMS "uncomfortable". Leggings are what are most
comfortable for me to wear so I feel like if I get up late and want to throw on a pair of leggings or yoga pants and a hoodie or T–shirt I should be able

Schools Need Policies And Procedures Essay
All schools need policies and procedures which are created by the schools governing bodies to support staff by providing rules and guidelines which
help to advise them of what is required and expected of them in order to manage different situations that might involve violence, threatening behavior or
abuse. These policies hold staff and schools to account to the public, and save valuable time, unifies the school as well as create standards of quality for
learning. If schools did not have policies in place then the school structure and function would not provide for the educational needs of the students.
It is a legal requirement for schools to create a number of policies such as anti–bullying, equal opportunities, fire drills and mental health guidelines.
School policies should cover:
Discipline and behavior: It is the responsibility of the school to ensure that it provides a productive learning and safe environment from abusive,
threatening or violent adults visiting the school for the staff and students attending the school as well as the protocols that staff are required to follow
to deal with offensive weapons and knives, for e.g. if a pupils attends school and attacks a member of staff with a knife, the staff can restrain the pupil
with reasonable force and the pupil can be permanently excluded from the school to protect other members of staff and children attending the school.
Schools also have a number of non–statutory policies such as PE policy, Equality and

Essay on School Safety: Protecting the Students
School Safety: Protecting the Students
For many students a positive academic environment is increasingly harder to obtain. This is mainly due to their lack of safety. Whether it be inside the
classroom or out.
Unfavorable situations at home, psychological stability, physical dangers and violence all contribute to this evident shortage. There have been
investigations on how organizations, teachers and parents collaborate together in today's society to influence the students understanding of safety in
school. The purpose of this paper is to display some examples of each aforementioned contribution and show some of the current measures being taken
to aid today's students.
Developments within the past decade have opened up new ways...show more content...
And with not caring about safety, leads to not caring of academics. As stated in the NEA article, This positive academic environment begins with safe
families and safe communities, statistically, schools continue to be one of the most secure places for our children. When that is taken away from a
student, they have no drive anymore to follow through with their education. A lot of the time weaponry is involved. Children find guns in parent's
drawers, or just while they are playing at their friend's house. Older brothers and sisters who might be involved in gangs might have weapons lying
around or even feel its cool to show off to their younger siblings and their friends.
However, some of the worst violence is not weaponry. It is the harassment from student to student. Psychological stability is a big issue today when it
comes to safety. Peer pressure has left children feeling the need to concentrate more on the popular things to do, then what is best for the student; an
education. In fact, Hazler, Hoover, and Oliver (1996) reported that three–fourths of the school students they surveyed indicated that they experienced
harassment and bullying to such an extent that they suffered academic, personal, and social difficulties (Hernandez). Bullying can impact a child when
it comes to learning. Having someone of the same age, belittle, embarrass, and put a child down, most of the time leads the child to

Reason: Why Students Break School Rules?
For I have seen that many university students does not follow certain rule that have been set by the university. A research was conducted to identify
why students break university rules in an Australian branch campus in Malaysia. In this research they are 3 sub heading to determine why students
break rule and helping the university to know the cause of students breaks rules.
Do students follow university rules?
What are the reasons that cause student to break university rules?
Do students think that having good discipline is important?

According to Leung & lee (2005) they survey from 1986 to 1989 have shown that the number of students who is breaking school rule in Hong Kong
started to rise, were mainly less serious offence such as habitual lateness and failure to do homework, while rebellious behaviour such as fighting,
vandalism, and taking soft drugs comprised only a very low percentage. The rising number of students breaking school rule...show more content...
According to Brousseau (2016), teachers break the rule just as the students , if not more than the students, than most students does. This is because
when we grow up the concept of doing something wrong or breaking rules, there will be consequences fade away from the grown up mind.
Whenever a teacher breaks rule, they do not receive any punishment, warning , or suspension which seems unfair to the student. Students will have to
face some sort of punishment if they break any of the school rules. Teachers usually show favourite by picking out a few students whom they like and
helping them on they homework and answer in quizzes which is against the school board policies such as curving a test to make them look goods

Speech regulations, particularly any speech that can harm someone is something that schools, especially university campuses have tried to limit or
regulate, to try and create a fun, peaceful learning environment for all students of all race, religion, gender etc. having said all of this in this paper I
will present my speech code that will apply to the University of Arizona's dormitories, libraries, and classrooms. After presenting my speech code I
will give my strongest argument as why I think this code works best, as well as present three objections that can be presented to the code as well as
responses to those objections. Finally I will say whether or not I think the University of Arizona should go ahead and use the presented speech code
based on what I wrote.
The speech code that I've come up for the University of Arizona goes as follows, every student enrolled at the University must respect other students
and whatever beliefs they might have, if the student he or she does not agree with another students view on something they should just walk away or
say politely that they disagree. Students must respect others religious beliefs in dormitories and libraries, but they may express how they feel about a
certain religion inside a classroom as long as it's in a respectful way that does not involve violence or the use of fighting words that being insulting a
particular person for believing in a certain religion. Students must respect others race and ethnicity, they

School Dress Codes
A set of rules for clothing or an excuse to exercise sexism?
Dress codes is a standard of clothing for school, office, club, or restaurant. Schools have dress codes to promote professionalism and a distraction–free
learning environment. More standards of dressings are set in place for girls than males. This causes an unequal amount of bias towards women and
sexism to occur in the dress code.
Schools dress codes are sexist because they promote body shaming, encourage victim blaming, and value male education over female.
With staff telling female students to cover their bodies in schools, many girls fall victim of body shaming.
Body shaming is the act of embarrassing someone by making rude comments about one's body shape or size. Schools will not say they are purposely
body shaming but teaching children to be modesty. The author penned, "there's also the disruption and humiliation that enforcing the attire rules can
pose during school. Frequently, students are openly called out in the middle of class, told to leave and change, and sometimes, to go home and find a
more appropriate outfit. In some instances, girls must wear brightly colored shirts that can exacerbate the embarrassment, emblazoned with words like,
'Dress Code Violator',"(Zhou).

An Essay On Ground Rules
For a constructive and safe learning environment, learners must abide by ground rules to govern an effective exchange and construction of
knowledge. Common ground rules, which ensure learning without disruption by members of the group, are: arrive on time, switch off mobile
phones and be courteous to other learners, I use a contract board at the start of the training, giving a overview at the start. While it is the Trainer's
role to ensure that ground rules would be adopted, states that ground rules must be agreed by the learners and must be made clear early on in the
course to help everyone know their limits. On his first class session, (Brandon, 2006) usually lists the ground rules suggested by his learning parents on
a flip chart or chalk board so that...show more content...
The answers to these questions can help in discussing and establishing ground rules.
Once a student enrols, he/she agrees to be bound by a student contract which sets out the ground rules of the training institution. The rules can be listed,
in order of importance, in a poster which acts as a Ground Rules Chart.
Ground rules can also be discussed and agreed verbally or informally, which is fair since research suggest formal ground rules may only be needed in a
big group or when conflicts emerge.
While ground rules are used widely when working in groups such as in meetings and conferences, they are particularly useful in managing supportive
learning environments and they can add value to the learning process. Whether they are set by the Trainer or the learners, ground rules should be
reviewed and updated when new members join. Most important, before deciding the rules, the first step is to think about what learning atmosphere the
group is aiming for; this will help in formulating a strategy for establishing the right set of rules for the

The Importance Of Rules In School
Rules in school have the most power because students don't follow the rules because teachers don't and principles have a role in all of it. Rules in
school are important an important power to teachers and principals because that's how they keep the school's safe from harm. Not following rules could
start from the principal's or individuals. Principal's not following the rules goes down to teachers and down to the students not following the rules.
Researchers say that students don't follow any rules because they think they can do whatever they want. Students don't follow the rules because of the
teacher(s) they have. According to Brousseau's research, "They tell their students that high school teachers do not put up with anything that is against
the rules". Teachers show favoritism to certain students by helping them cheat on homework and quizzes. They help the favorites and leave the other
kinds confused. According to Brousseau's research, "Teachers show favoritism by picking out a few students whom they like and "helping" them.
Teachers make up their own rules for the classroom, which goes against the school board policies. According to Brousseau's research, "they allow the
students to play music out loud in class which disrupts the other students that dont wanna hear it". People that complains about the teachers not
following the school board rules, The board policies need to be changed. Most students don't follow the rules because of the teachers they have, and the

Why Is It Important To Follow School Rules
Childhood is a totalitarian regime, and schools are the mental concentration camps. Education is described by the mis–educated as real–life preparation;
in actuality, schools train people to accept a society where the government and other institutions tell us what to think and do. Experience is the best
teacher, and the purpose of school is to prevent experience.
If school attendance were voluntary, schools would have to reform themselves to meet students needs, because if students could leave on a whim,
schools would suddenly have to prove their worth. But by not giving us a choice about whether to accept the government's favors early on, we all
unwillingly sign a contract with Uncle Sam that says: "Since you did so much for me in my...show more content...
Because freedom is only an abstract theory to students, it's easy to remove their rights outside of school as well. Curfews, age–minimums for purchase
of certain legal items, mandatory military service, and child labor laws are all the logical extensions of a school system that teaches that thinking is
best left to authorities instead of individuals.
If the point of the curfew is to cut down on crime, and if people of all ages are capable of crime, why are only youths not allowed outside at night?
Easy. They can't vote. If a teenager is out at 2am and kills three people, he should be punished accordingly. But if a teenager is out at 3am, playing
roller hockey with his friends, he should not be hassled because the government says it's past his bedtime. There are loopholes, however. Minors who
have worn political T–shirts, passed out fliers, or had protests while hanging out past the curfew have been left alone by the police or won court cases
against them, because they were exercising their First Amendment rights.
Once American men turn 18, even though they are still too young for legal drinking, they are forced to sign up for Selected Service (the SS initials
are appropriate). This allows the government to force any young man to die in battle if there's a vaguely defined "crisis." If

School Rules
School rules and regulations are made not to be broken. Rules are made for the safety and better welfare of the students in school. Another is to
promote good behavior among students and to maintain the good image of the school. Parents send their children to school in order for them to learn
not only academic values, but also moral values. Implementing school rules will help the students mold their character and values expected from them
by other people.
There are certain factors why nowadays, students tend not to follow rules disseminated by the school despite of the punishments they will have to
face for doing such actions. Some of the reasons are as follows: peer pressure, drugs, poverty, homelessness, low self esteem, lack of...show more

Since he/she came from a broken family, he/she cannot get support from his/her family and in that way, to get the attention of his/her parents, he/she
tend to do what is wrong just to be noticed by his/her love ones. Students coming from broken families often times become selfish in a way that he/she
is just thinking of his/her own happiness and satisfaction.
The family is the very source of love, support and guidance for each individual. It is where the good character of a person is uprooted. Without the
support and love coming from every member of the family, the person, particularly the students becomes delinquent or simply lost in their moral
values. A student without moral values knows no straight path. He always go on the wrong side of the track just to be noticed.
Media also plays an important role in growing individuals. Most of the students nowadays are exposed to so much in media particularly on local
television. Because at a very young age, they are easily being influenced by what they see and what they hear, especially from those whom they idolize
and frequently see on screen. Sometimes, through media, they witness negative things that they initiate because it was presented or shown beautifully
regardless of being right, or against the rules.
We cannot deny the fact that even though the parents raised their children in ways which they consider as "right," there are still some who lose their
direction. It is true that nobody is perfect. So who

A.Philosophical Statement.
It's important for all teachers to set up classroom rules and guideline for students at the beginning of the school term. Giving a welcoming address

introduce myself and tell them to also introduce their self and exchange peasantry to get familiarized with one another. One example is to get student
involve in setting class rules. One of my philosophy will be in line with assertive discipline. This philosophy will need student discipline in which
they must follow the class rule that is in place. I will also use positive re–enforcement to promote good behavior and hard work. Scientific research has
consistently shown that student's behaviors keep improving while disruptive behavior declined greatly because of the use of assertive discipline
(Canter 2012). Giving students a community tour will make them to become more confident of their environment, and make them feel good and secure.
B.Classroom Expectations and Rules.
My strategy for building and setting up my classroom rules and expectation are that, I will take time to explain and discuss with students the rule itself
and the reason behind it. This will help my students to see the need for the rules and therefore, to accept it. I will also implement negotiated rules and

  • 4. School Management SCHOOL MANAGEMENT ANS 1 – Definition of School Management The term 'management' encompasses an array of different functions undertaken to accomplish a task successfully. In the simplest of terms, management is all about 'getting things done'. However, it is the way and the process of how one achieves ones target or goals and it is in this respect that management is considered an art and a science as well. Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. If motivation doesn't take place in an organization, then employees may not contribute to the other functions (which are usually set by top level management). Hierarchy of Management The management of a large organization may have about five levels: 1. Senior management (or "top management" or "upper management") 2. Middle management 3. Low–level management, such as supervisors or team–leaders 4. Foreman 5. • 6. Persuasive Essay On School Dress Code School Community Dress Code Most educational institutions all across the country implement restrictions on what students wear when they are on school grounds. These restrictions include dress codes that address what students can and cannot wear. The argument with dress codes and uniforms is that it helps students perform better in school by limiting distractions, while others claim that restricting what a student can wear at school can limit their freedom of expression. The immediate answer to the question "Should schools be able to control what students wear?" is a yes, all schools must have control over what students wear in the school premise within the bounds of a dress code to establish an appropriate learning environment. Moreover, educational institutions must enable school communities to take a more active role in updating the dress code by voting. Schools create general dress codes that try to compromise both parties, and it's not easy. According to the Associated Press, "people have different notions of what's appropriate and what's not – and what's distracting, and what's not." Standard dress codes set common rules to address the issue of what is right or wrong for a student to wear to school. Common themes for the dress code include the length of shorts and skirts; clothing with bare shoulder and midriffs; and clothing with illegal, profane, or suggestive content. Even some clothing restrictions are vaguely described as "appropriate length" or "fingertip rule" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Importance Of Rules In School According to Chapalin he stated that, In schools there are two types of rules, there are whole school rules created to encourage a safe and pleasant environment around the school grounds. There are also classroom rules, which are used to maintain an effective learning environment within the classroom. 'Effective rules provide pupils with a physically and psychologically safe predictable environment' (Chapalin 2003 quoted by James Arthur et al, page 107) As adults were all have to obey society's rules and routines, eg pay our bills, wait in queues and not steal others things. As adults, we know these as laws, customs and good manners and learn the consequences of breaking them. Students need to learn how to behave and teachers can use rules and routines to help them do this and consequently create an appropriate learning environment. A simple positive behaviour strategy used in all schools is the use of rules. A rule in the classroom is principle that generally governs thepupil's behaviour. It is vital that a rule is effective in order to create the correct setting. 'Whatever the rule, it should be established quickly, with firmness and consistency.' (Yeomans and Arnold 2006). I will develop classroom rules within the first week or two of the school year, 'this helps build a natural readiness and expectation of pupils' (Classroom Behaviour, by Bill Rogers, page 27). Pupils must be aware and agree with the rule in order for them to respect it. I will achieve this by Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. A Reflection Essay On School Policies Reflective Essay on School Policies. When it comes to following school policies every teacher should be aware of what is in the student handbook. This tool is used to shed light on the different policies that the district holds parents, students and teachers accountable to. I am going to be honest and say before this essay I had not looked at the Round Lake Area School District 116 School Handbook. The reason why I have not looked at the handbook is the fact that almost all handbooks spell out the same policies. In this essay I will discuss the different policies and how I think my school district could improve on their policies. All school districts have a wide range of students who are each unique and with Round Lake that is still the case. In this district we have students that have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental disabilities, autism, add/adhd, communication disorders, and emotional/behavior disorders. When it comes to these students my district follows the rules that have been put in place through the IDEA Act that was started in 1975 and revised in 2004. One thing that I struggle with in my district is their use of teacher assistants. Some special education classrooms have teacher assistants which is helpful to meet the needs of the students, but at my district they will not put a one to one aide on a student's IEP. I feel that this is a disservice to the students and I feel that they do this in order to save some money. Some students don't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On School Rules I personally love CMS. It may not be the best school in the world, but it sure is a good one. I'm lucky to go here. I try my best not to complain too much about the school because I could be going to a school with no air conditioning, shared classrooms, or worse. There are many, many aspects I love about this school, but there are also a few policies and rules that I do notdon't exactly agree with. Some of these policies and rules I would like to see changed are the ones concerning dress code and pay–to–play. The first policy I would like to address is the dress code. I know that we are very lucky to not have uniforms and be able to wear whatever we want as long as it abides to the dress code. Although I think that our school's dress code is a lot better and less strict than other schools, there are still a few rules in the dress code I find myself disagreeing with and sometimes even breaking. There are many rules I agree with including sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 regarding dress code in the student handbook. There are also many rules I do not agree with including sections 5, 6, 7, and 9. Section 5 is titled YOGA and states in all simplicity that skin tight pants are not to be worn unless a fingertip length shirt is worn with them. I break this rule an awful lot, almost everyday. I have noticed that the staff this year has been very lax with this rule (I would hope so after seeing some of the shorts girls wore at the beginning of the year and not get dress coded for). That does notn't change the fact that it is still in the dress code and if any member of the staff wanted to they could dress code me. Technically, even for wearing skinny jeans which are basically the only jeans I wear and I know that's the same scenario with many other girls. Then again, I feel like this rule is completely ignored which makes me even more confused as to why this whole section is needed. I don't think anyone wearing leggings, skinny jeans, or yoga pants are going to make anyone distracted or make students here at CMS "uncomfortable". Leggings are what are most comfortable for me to wear so I feel like if I get up late and want to throw on a pair of leggings or yoga pants and a hoodie or T–shirt I should be able to do so Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. Schools Need Policies And Procedures Essay All schools need policies and procedures which are created by the schools governing bodies to support staff by providing rules and guidelines which help to advise them of what is required and expected of them in order to manage different situations that might involve violence, threatening behavior or abuse. These policies hold staff and schools to account to the public, and save valuable time, unifies the school as well as create standards of quality for learning. If schools did not have policies in place then the school structure and function would not provide for the educational needs of the students. It is a legal requirement for schools to create a number of policies such as anti–bullying, equal opportunities, fire drills and mental health guidelines. School policies should cover: Discipline and behavior: It is the responsibility of the school to ensure that it provides a productive learning and safe environment from abusive, threatening or violent adults visiting the school for the staff and students attending the school as well as the protocols that staff are required to follow to deal with offensive weapons and knives, for e.g. if a pupils attends school and attacks a member of staff with a knife, the staff can restrain the pupil with reasonable force and the pupil can be permanently excluded from the school to protect other members of staff and children attending the school. • 13. Essay on School Safety: Protecting the Students School Safety: Protecting the Students For many students a positive academic environment is increasingly harder to obtain. This is mainly due to their lack of safety. Whether it be inside the classroom or out. Unfavorable situations at home, psychological stability, physical dangers and violence all contribute to this evident shortage. There have been investigations on how organizations, teachers and parents collaborate together in today's society to influence the students understanding of safety in school. The purpose of this paper is to display some examples of each aforementioned contribution and show some of the current measures being taken to aid today's students. Developments within the past decade have opened up new ways...show more content... And with not caring about safety, leads to not caring of academics. As stated in the NEA article, This positive academic environment begins with safe families and safe communities, statistically, schools continue to be one of the most secure places for our children. When that is taken away from a student, they have no drive anymore to follow through with their education. A lot of the time weaponry is involved. Children find guns in parent's drawers, or just while they are playing at their friend's house. Older brothers and sisters who might be involved in gangs might have weapons lying around or even feel its cool to show off to their younger siblings and their friends. However, some of the worst violence is not weaponry. It is the harassment from student to student. Psychological stability is a big issue today when it comes to safety. Peer pressure has left children feeling the need to concentrate more on the popular things to do, then what is best for the student; an education. In fact, Hazler, Hoover, and Oliver (1996) reported that three–fourths of the school students they surveyed indicated that they experienced harassment and bullying to such an extent that they suffered academic, personal, and social difficulties (Hernandez). Bullying can impact a child when it comes to learning. Having someone of the same age, belittle, embarrass, and put a child down, most of the time leads the child to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Reason: Why Students Break School Rules? For I have seen that many university students does not follow certain rule that have been set by the university. A research was conducted to identify why students break university rules in an Australian branch campus in Malaysia. In this research they are 3 sub heading to determine why students break rule and helping the university to know the cause of students breaks rules. Do students follow university rules? What are the reasons that cause student to break university rules? Do students think that having good discipline is important? 2.1 Do students follow university rules? According to Leung & lee (2005) they survey from 1986 to 1989 have shown that the number of students who is breaking school rule in Hong Kong started to rise, were mainly less serious offence such as habitual lateness and failure to do homework, while rebellious behaviour such as fighting, vandalism, and taking soft drugs comprised only a very low percentage. According to Brousseau (2016), teachers break the rule just as the students , if not more than the students, than most students does. This is because when we grow up the concept of doing something wrong or breaking rules, there will be consequences fade away from the grown up mind. Whenever a teacher breaks rule, they do not receive any punishment, warning , or suspension which seems unfair to the student. Students will have to face some sort of punishment if they break any of the school rules. Teachers usually show favourite by picking out a few students whom they like and helping them on they homework and answer in quizzes which is against the school board policies such as curving a test to make them look goods (Brousseau 2016). • 15. Speech regulations, particularly any speech that can harm someone is something that schools, especially university campuses have tried to limit or regulate, to try and create a fun, peaceful learning environment for all students of all race, religion, gender etc. having said all of this in this paper I will present my speech code that will apply to the University of Arizona's dormitories, libraries, and classrooms. After presenting my speech code I will give my strongest argument as why I think this code works best, as well as present three objections that can be presented to the code as well as responses to those objections. Finally I will say whether or not I think the University of Arizona should go ahead and use the presented speech code based on what I wrote. The speech code that I've come up for the University of Arizona goes as follows, every student enrolled at the University must respect other students and whatever beliefs they might have, if the student he or she does not agree with another students view on something they should just walk away or say politely that they disagree. Students must respect others religious beliefs in dormitories and libraries, but they may express how they feel about a certain religion inside a classroom as long as it's in a respectful way that does not involve violence or the use of fighting words that being insulting a particular person for believing in a certain religion. • 16. School Dress Codes A set of rules for clothing or an excuse to exercise sexism? Dress codes is a standard of clothing for school, office, club, or restaurant. Schools have dress codes to promote professionalism and a distraction–free learning environment. More standards of dressings are set in place for girls than males. This causes an unequal amount of bias towards women and sexism to occur in the dress code. Schools dress codes are sexist because they promote body shaming, encourage victim blaming, and value male education over female. With staff telling female students to cover their bodies in schools, many girls fall victim of body shaming. Body shaming is the act of embarrassing someone by making rude comments about one's body shape or size. Schools will not say they are purposely body shaming but teaching children to be modesty. The author penned, "there's also the disruption and humiliation that enforcing the attire rules can pose during school. Frequently, students are openly called out in the middle of class, told to leave and change, and sometimes, to go home and find a more appropriate outfit. In some instances, girls must wear brightly colored shirts that can exacerbate the embarrassment, emblazoned with words like, 'Dress Code Violator',"(Zhou). • 17. An Essay On Ground Rules For a constructive and safe learning environment, learners must abide by ground rules to govern an effective exchange and construction of knowledge. Common ground rules, which ensure learning without disruption by members of the group, are: arrive on time, switch off mobile phones and be courteous to other learners, I use a contract board at the start of the training, giving a overview at the start. While it is the Trainer's role to ensure that ground rules would be adopted, states that ground rules must be agreed by the learners and must be made clear early on in the course to help everyone know their limits. On his first class session, (Brandon, 2006) usually lists the ground rules suggested by his learning parents on a flip chart or chalk board so that...show more content... The answers to these questions can help in discussing and establishing ground rules. Once a student enrols, he/she agrees to be bound by a student contract which sets out the ground rules of the training institution. The rules can be listed, in order of importance, in a poster which acts as a Ground Rules Chart. Ground rules can also be discussed and agreed verbally or informally, which is fair since research suggest formal ground rules may only be needed in a big group or when conflicts emerge. While ground rules are used widely when working in groups such as in meetings and conferences, they are particularly useful in managing supportive learning environments and they can add value to the learning process. Whether they are set by the Trainer or the learners, ground rules should be reviewed and updated when new members join. Most important, before deciding the rules, the first step is to think about what learning atmosphere the group is aiming for; this will help in formulating a strategy for establishing the right set of rules for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. The Importance Of Rules In School Rules in school have the most power because students don't follow the rules because teachers don't and principles have a role in all of it. Rules in school are important an important power to teachers and principals because that's how they keep the school's safe from harm. Not following rules could start from the principal's or individuals. Principal's not following the rules goes down to teachers and down to the students not following the rules. Researchers say that students don't follow any rules because they think they can do whatever they want. Students don't follow the rules because of the teacher(s) they have. According to Brousseau's research, "They tell their students that high school teachers do not put up with anything that is against the rules". Teachers show favoritism to certain students by helping them cheat on homework and quizzes. They help the favorites and leave the other kinds confused. According to Brousseau's research, "Teachers show favoritism by picking out a few students whom they like and "helping" them. Teachers make up their own rules for the classroom, which goes against the school board policies. According to Brousseau's research, "they allow the students to play music out loud in class which disrupts the other students that dont wanna hear it". • 19. Why Is It Important To Follow School Rules Childhood is a totalitarian regime, and schools are the mental concentration camps. Education is described by the mis–educated as real–life preparation; in actuality, schools train people to accept a society where the government and other institutions tell us what to think and do. Experience is the best teacher, and the purpose of school is to prevent experience. If school attendance were voluntary, schools would have to reform themselves to meet students needs, because if students could leave on a whim, schools would suddenly have to prove their worth. But by not giving us a choice about whether to accept the government's favors early on, we all unwillingly sign a contract with Uncle Sam that says: "Since you did so much for me in my...show more content... Because freedom is only an abstract theory to students, it's easy to remove their rights outside of school as well. Curfews, age–minimums for purchase of certain legal items, mandatory military service, and child labor laws are all the logical extensions of a school system that teaches that thinking is best left to authorities instead of individuals. If the point of the curfew is to cut down on crime, and if people of all ages are capable of crime, why are only youths not allowed outside at night? Easy. They can't vote. If a teenager is out at 2am and kills three people, he should be punished accordingly. But if a teenager is out at 3am, playing roller hockey with his friends, he should not be hassled because the government says it's past his bedtime. There are loopholes, however. Minors who have worn political T–shirts, passed out fliers, or had protests while hanging out past the curfew have been left alone by the police or won court cases against them, because they were exercising their First Amendment rights. Once American men turn 18, even though they are still too young for legal drinking, they are forced to sign up for Selected Service (the SS initials are appropriate). This allows the government to force any young man to die in battle if there's a vaguely defined "crisis." If Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. School Rules School rules and regulations are made not to be broken. Rules are made for the safety and better welfare of the students in school. Another is to promote good behavior among students and to maintain the good image of the school. Parents send their children to school in order for them to learn not only academic values, but also moral values. Implementing school rules will help the students mold their character and values expected from them by other people. There are certain factors why nowadays, students tend not to follow rules disseminated by the school despite of the punishments they will have to face for doing such actions. Some of the reasons are as follows: peer pressure, drugs, poverty, homelessness, low self esteem, lack of...show more content... Since he/she came from a broken family, he/she cannot get support from his/her family and in that way, to get the attention of his/her parents, he/she tend to do what is wrong just to be noticed by his/her love ones. Students coming from broken families often times become selfish in a way that he/she is just thinking of his/her own happiness and satisfaction. The family is the very source of love, support and guidance for each individual. It is where the good character of a person is uprooted. Without the support and love coming from every member of the family, the person, particularly the students becomes delinquent or simply lost in their moral values. A student without moral values knows no straight path. He always go on the wrong side of the track just to be noticed. Media also plays an important role in growing individuals. Most of the students nowadays are exposed to so much in media particularly on local television. Because at a very young age, they are easily being influenced by what they see and what they hear, especially from those whom they idolize and frequently see on screen. Sometimes, through media, they witness negative things that they initiate because it was presented or shown beautifully regardless of being right, or against the rules. We cannot deny the fact that even though the parents raised their children in ways which they consider as "right," there are still some who lose their direction. It is true that nobody is perfect. Giving a welcoming address and greeting students will create a good and peaceful atmosphere for everyone. To create a good relationship for me and my students, I will introduce myself and tell them to also introduce their self and exchange peasantry to get familiarized with one another. One example is to get student involve in setting class rules. One of my philosophy will be in line with assertive discipline. This philosophy will need student discipline in which they must follow the class rule that is in place. I will also use positive re–enforcement to promote good behavior and hard work. Scientific research has consistently shown that student's behaviors keep improving while disruptive behavior declined greatly because of the use of assertive discipline (Canter 2012). Giving students a community tour will make them to become more confident of their environment, and make them feel good and secure. B.Classroom Expectations and Rules. My strategy for building and setting up my classroom rules and expectation are that, I will take time to explain and discuss with students the rule itself and the reason behind it. This will help my students to see the need for the rules and therefore, to accept it. I will also implement negotiated rules and procedures between parents and children.
