Interview tips
1. Interview Tips
1. First Impressions are key!
Hiring Managers receive thousands of applications every day and are meeting hundreds of
candidates. Think about what makes you different to the hundreds of people that have applied to
the same role.
Look your interviewer in the eye
Smile – it is more enjoyable to have a conversation with someone who is positive
Be on time – Don’t arrive more than 5 minutes early
Firm handshake
Engage in conversation – let the interviewer get to know you
Dress for Success!
Do your research – know who you’re meeting and their background
2. Give specific examples!
Behavioural interview questions are becoming more and more common. Use the STAR technique to
structure your answers – Situation, Task, Action, Result. Have examples to reflect on that cover
similar themes:
Conflict Resolution
Team Player
Innovation
Leadership
Problem Solving Skills
Passion
3. Ask Questions!
Interviews are a chance for you to get to know the company and decide if this is the right fit for you.
Ask questions to ensure you understand the role, the company, and expectation of the position.
Preparation shows your interest in the role. Example questions include:
What are three words that would describe your company culture?
What is your expectation for this role? KPI’s? Targets?
What is the biggest challenge of this role?
What is the company strategy in the next 3-5 years?
Are there internal career progression opportunities in place?
