What have you learnt about technologies from constructing this product
1. Question 6
What have you learnt about
technologies from constructing
this product?
2. The equipment we used was a camera and a tripod. This was
one of the first times I have used such equipment and thus it
was a good learning experience, I found that the more I used
the camera the more confident I got at handling it and I
gradually became better.
The tripod that
we used was a
Velbon DF-05
The camera that
we used was a
Cannon Legria
HV-40
3. While using the camera I learned how to zoom in and out (we
did not use this technique in our final product) and how to focus
the camera on a specific item in the frame, and other basic
things like actual recording, stopping, pausing, rewinding and
playing.
I also learned that while handling a camera you need to be
very careful and have a steady hand, because even the tiniest of
movements can come out really shaky in the final film.
Another thing that I have learned is that cameras still used
tapes, our camera had two possible ways of storing the footage,
storing it on a micro SD card or on a tape. We chose to record
our footage onto a tape since it was the easiest to get a hold of.
4. This is a behind the scenes picture of me using a camera that
was mounted on the tripod. This is where we first learned to use
a tripod. We needed to use the tripod to make sure the shot was
steady, also it made it easier for us to do a 'pan' movement
smoothly.
5. In this picture I took the camera of the tripod to get a close up of the character
opening the door, we found it easier to carry the camera for shots like close-ups
and extreme close-ups because it allowed us more room to move and get the
more difficult angles.
6. This is another behind the scenes picture. Here we could not use a tripod
because of the limited space we were working in. This caused the shot to be a
little bit shaky but it turned out okay.
7. Software
Another software that we used was LiveType. We used this to
make our production companies logos (the ‘Bridge productions’
and ‘Shock Media’) we needed to use it because final cut express
can not make fancy tittles . I have never used this software before
so it was a little bit difficult to use, but after awhile I got used to it.
The final step in making our opening sequence was to add sound.
For this we used GarageBand. I have already used this program
when we had to add sound to a film clip in a previous lesson. But I
did learn some new things, for example how to record a voice over
and how to add that to our opening sequence.
8. This is a screenshot of final cut pro when we were adding
the credits in-between the clips.
9. This is a screenshot of when we were making the production companies logos,
this one is of the ‘Shock Media’. With this one we learned how to change the
font/style of the writing and the effect, also how to change the background and
apply an effect on it.
