• Admission/Discharge and Floor Management of Surgery Patients: Place full admission
orders of post-op patients into the EMR. Collaborating with Hospitalist team on as needed
basis.
Floor Management of post-op patient: Review patient progress and tests, meet with the patient,
addressing patient/family and nurse questions and adjust accordingly. Examine the patient and
address any concerns. Explain to the patient/family the procedure when needed and
educate/stress the importance of following the discharge orders. Communicate with the
surgeon to give patient’s progress and get approval for discharge. Placed a progress note in the
EMR.
Discharge: Coordinating with the Hospitalist team regarding medical release, placing discharge
orders to include prescriptions and testing necessary to prepare patients for follow up with the
Surgeon. Discharge summary is completed and the nurse and patient are notified.
• Computerized Tomography & MRI at a Level One Trauma Hospital: Worked closely with
Radiologists and Residents for 8 years. Independently addressed complex-emergency patients
with a Resident in an after hours shift.
• Organized Radiology class for PA students: Assisted the Resident teaching various imaging
modalities with films to Physician Assistants students.
