Southern New Hampshire University
Executive Summary
Upon review on a profile of a successful company we see Southwest Airlines as a prime example. Their ability to recognize weakness in their
management system and adjust strategies has allowed them to emerge as a leader in the US airline industry. Southwest is the largest US low fare carrier
with low fare rates, no additional fees and excellent customer service. Southwest Airlines currently has one of the most innovative management
practices in the US to date. A review of the critical elements of Southwest Airlines proves to be effective and innovative.

Organizational Culture
Southwest Airlines incorporates a team orientated culture by cross training its employees so they are capable of helping each other if necessary. The
company place a strong emphasis on training work teams and cultivating employee citizenship behavior. Employees participate in twice daily meetings
where they can discuss any issues and determine a course of action. Job applicants who are not viewed as team players are not hired. This team
oriented organizational culture offers more positive relationships with managers and coworkers thus providing a quality workplace.
Management Decision Making Process
Southwest Airlines encourages respect, innovation, a caring attitude and strives to adhere to all labor and employment laws which includes respecting
privacy and equal opportunity. With a strong concern for avoiding corruption and avoiding antiâcompetitive behavior, they work hard to maintain
accountability of all business practices. An example of this is the promotion of competition to provide consumers low air fares and a variety of high
quality air service offerings across the US. This shows their devotion to the community they serve and maintains the company culture.
How Management Adheres to the Principles if Ethics
Southwest Airlines managers live the vision of the company by incorporating the vision into their everyday lives. Community, environment and caring

3. Success Essay : The Meaning Of Success
What is success? The meaning of success is different for everyone. Being successful could be anything. It could be finishing a book, doing really well
at a band competition, or even winning a state championship. Success is very personal. I think being successful is putting your best effort into
something and knowing you could not do any better. Success is setting goals and completing them. John Wooden spent many years researching and
perfecting his pyramid of success. Wooden's pyramid of success consists of traits like confidence, poise, and selfâcontrol. All of the traits lead to
success, but I think the most important are adaptability, fight, and faith. The reason I chose adaptability is because whatever is thrown at you
during a basketball game, like one of your teammates getting injured, you can't get upset over it, you have to keep playing and make the best of it.
Adaptability also applies to life. You can't just give up just because something goes wrong, you have to forget about the problem and keep moving
forward. I think fight is a very important trait to be successful. You have to put in your best effort and you also have to want to be successful. In cross
country you can't just show up to the meet and expect to do well without even trying. You have to fight to get your place and you have to have better
effort than your competitors. My third most important trait to being successful is faith. If you have no faith in yourself then how will others be able to

4. The first step to being successful, no matter what you're trying to succeed, is to recognize your weak points, your strengths, and your limits. I myself
know that I have several, and when I say several, I mean several, weak points when it comes to writing papers. The first and most lethal to a student
who wishes to be well, is procrastination. I will always put writing a paper off till the last minute. In fact, I'm doing it right now as I'm writing this.
I'm already doing what I say I'm not supposed to be doing. You can probably tell that I'm off to a great start. The next on the list of things that will
brutally murder a student who wishes to do well in a class are distractions. Of course there is a multitude of things that can distract...show more

I didn't really do that in this paper, so you can relax, but in future essays, you had better watch out. You might also want to watch out for a particular
mood or feeling in my writings as well. This is because I listen to music whenever I have to write, because I am normally very easily distracted by
noises (and shiny objects). The former of these things I overcome by blasting music into my head, because it eliminates all of the external stimuli that
can derail my entire writing process. This may sound kindâof contradictory, because I'm being distracted by noise so I put on more noise. The
difference is though, that music is more of a background noise to me, while conversation always grabs my attention. Something else that grabs my
attention is video; if I ever listen to music if has to be from iTunes and absolutely not from YouTube. If I know that there is something visual that
goes along with what I'm hearing, then I am just pulled into watching the video. This is extremely bad for when you're trying to write a paper,
especially if you're like me and you have to look at what you're typing as you go along. Something that I can also do to help my writing is to always
read what I wrote out loud. When I say out loud, I mean out loud! This will help me catch some of the grammatical errors that anyone can easily
make, and I can also make sure that what I am writing makes sense. Something else that can help me

5. My Definition of Success Essay example
"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value."
â Albert Einstein ââ
My personal definition would not include "stuff" at all. No one will care (and neither will you) what kind of car your drove or how big your house
was when you're on your deathbed. Your thoughts will not be about your job, the office or how much money you made.
Personal success is defined by how content and enjoyable your life is. That is not to say that challenges and disappointments aren't included in this. A
rich, eventful and challenging life doing what you enjoy and positively affecting others seems to me to be just about right. Find a job you love and
you'll never work another day in your life. I know I won't. In my...show more content...
Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having regrets is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and
your contentment with it are also very important, and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life
interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the amount of wealth or power or number of
promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most
successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination. They took that trip when they were 25 even
though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the $55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would
enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a startâup company, moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that
most people only dream about. If they managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is
practiced, things won't spin out of control.
Bottom line rules for a successful life:
Always try new things.
Listen twice as much as you talk.
Travel as much as you can comfortably afford.
Faith and family always come first â
8. Hard Work Is The Key To Success Essay
Hard work is a key to Success (ESSAY) "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" Hard work is the key to success. To succeed in life one
must endure the challenges life presents and work to overcome these challenges to be the best possible person that one can be. We must not only
use hard work to impress those around us but also to achieve goals that we set for ourselves. If we as individuals do not work hard to succeed, then we
do not receive the same satisfaction as we would if we put in hour upon hour or even year upon year of work to achieve our goals. I believe for one to
be successful, he must be willing to work hard to succeed in any aspect of life. "Great thing come from hard work and perseverance"...show more

The secret of success, as many people will agree, is hard work. Evidently, successful people are admired in the society. In many instances, they
make headlines in the mainstream media. However, such people are not many in the society. Many people still struggle to achieve their goals in
life. Others give up, all together, when they attempt without success to achieve their goals. Simply, many people are unable or unwilling to engage
in hard work for them to be successful. "To succeed, work hard and never give up and above all cherish a magnificent obsession" Many people give
up when they do not feel like pursuing their goals or when they experience setbacks at the initial stages of a project. For instance, many people trying
to lose weight may not see the results within the first few weeks of rigorous exercise and dieting. At this stage, unsuccessful people will give up. On
the other hand, hardworking people try to find ways of solving some of the setbacksâ instead of giving up. More so, they put in more effort even when
they realize that have slim chances of winning. "Dreams don't work unless you

9. What Makes A Successful Career Essay
The reasons why people succeed in their careers are probably as numerous as the number of successful people. When we begin to think about the
qualities these people possess, it becomes apparent that we can classify or catagorize them into a few specific groups–those who really
enjoy their work, those who are obsessed with their work (they either want to be the 'best'; or have a fear of failure), those who are blessed with
exceptional talent in their field, and those who have planned their work and worked their plan. Perhaps as I describe them, you will identify which
group applies to you.
The first group of people with successful careers I'd like to discuss is those who simply enjoy their work....show more content...
There are any number of explanations for why these people are the way they are and, while I'm no psychologist, I'd like to offer my own personal
observation.
Of the people I've known over the years who fall into this category two basic types exist. One is the person who has to be the 'Best';. It makes no
difference what they are doing; this individual will pour every ounce of their heart and soul into being successful. The other type is essentially no
different than the first one I've described. Primarily the difference lies in their motivation–this person is successful due to a fear of failure.
Although, the driver is different, the means by which they achieve their goal is the same; they pour heart and soul into accomplishing success.
There are others who can attribute success in their career to nothing more than exceptional talent. They have any uncanny ability to perform at a
level unmatched by any one else. The people who fall into this category most often come to mind when we think of careers in sports. This is not to
say that our sports superstars have not devoted a lifetime of work toward being a successful athlete and I would never slight their personal sacrifices
or the hard work they have endured. However, I do believe it safe to say that juke 'm and duke 'm moves like Barry Sanders (former running back for
the Detroit Lines) and stretched out, flying through the air,

10. Why Is It Important To Be Successful?
The most important thing in life is thought to be happiness. In order to achieve success you must adjust to every situation with ease. When we use the
term successful it does not mean the same as the conventional definition. The definition we are referring to is to be able to overcome hardships,
nothing relating to business. Today the world is something of a giant melting pot of people. Communities everywhere are interblended with people
from different places and of different backgrounds. Inside these communities there are also many different mental/physical/physiological disorders and

There are three ways in which stress can be beneficial and can have positive effects. Stressful events help to satisfy stimulation and challenge. Stress
can promote personal growth and selfâimprovement. Finally stress can protect people and harden them so that they are less affected by the next day's
stress.
Since stress is an everyday event and cannot be avoided most times it is important to learn to cope with that stress. One way to cope is by doing
selfâtalk. Which is fairly selfâexplanatory. It helps people to see their options more clearly. Another method, which would help, is when people talk
about their stress with friends, family or professionals. Every time someone employs one of these methods it is beneficial to their mental health which
is beneficial to their mental wellness and to the people they interact with. When someone is successful in combating stress it shows throughout other
parts of his or her lives. They experience better health both mentally and physically and from there they are able to be successful at other parts of their
lives. They then are able to adjust using one of the described methods as treatment for any future stressors using this experience as a tool to get through
the next one.
People who are able to adjust to stressful situations are better equipped to cope with extreme situations like depression. Millions of people

Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but
to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the
requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it
changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because
only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages itsaudience to think differently about wanting to be successful
and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative,

What makes someone a success? In my opinion, to be a success you must be viewed as one by others by achieving a difficult goal. Anyone can

as long as you miss less than a certain number of days. Those are the easiest points you can get in a class, no reason not to go for it.
It can be difficult to balance home life with school if you have extra responsibilities outside of school. I have a young child, a husband with
disabilities as well as a part time job. Making sure I am able to take care of those needs as well as my school needs can be challenging at times, but

Culture plays another huge part of success. Culture can affect your job performance that it can even lead to problems or deaths. Success arises out
of the steady accumulation of advantages: when and where you are born, what your parents did for a living, and what the circumstances of your

According to this ethic, Jesus has it absolutely backward. In a culture of upward mobility, Jesus teaches downward mobility â that we should all be
servants, not masters. In a culture where materialism and power are prized above everything else, Jesus comes off as a flaming ignoramus who
knows little if anything about how careers work. Some public servants fall prey to worldly temptations. We read about them in the media. They
get into trouble because they forget that the public servant should purposely and knowingly take on the role of, well, a servant. There is nothing
wrong with acquiring nice things for your family and advancing your career through hard work. But the Christian public servant hears a cry that
goes beyond the calling of status; beyond the calling of domination which is so clearly heard in our times. The Christian public servant is called to
stand with Christ and against the culture. The Christian public servant knows that Jesus is not a flaming ignoramus, but is the true reflection of
God. Service is the end, not the means. Service is to be exalted not demeaned. Others (all others) are to be respected, not denigrated. This is the
ethic of Jesus, and practicing it makes all the difference in our jobs and in our lives. As this work week begins, let all Christian public servants hear
the cry that goes beyond the calling of this world. In our jobs as elsewhere, let us be a reflection of
