Enlist Conscious Mind
Ref- Amy M Chambers article in Enterpreneur
Over Thinking
 Our power and ability begins and ends in our mind
 20% people are affected by over thinking
 Over thinking results in reduced mental flexibility and
development and
 Reduces confidence
 Increases self doubt
 Increases negativity
 Leaving us at the mercy of emotions ,hence we must know
 From where it has come
 Why does it happens
 Use awareness to manage and control emotions
 We feel wronged many times in our life like
 Unfair review by our boss
 Strangers cutting our path on the street
 Wife/friends/relatives not behaving the way we want
 Resulting in succumbing at the mercy of emotions and feeling
 Hurt
 Anger
 Annoyance
Can we do something
 Subconscious
 Does incredible job of helping us through our lives
 Processes information at a rate 500 times faster than conscious like
 Stopping unconsciously at red light
 Pulling of hands when touching hot objects
 Runs old program we have taught it
 Protects us & keeps us safe
 Drawbacks
 May mislead us to feel emotions that re not helpful
 Does not want us to be
 Uncomfortable or
 Suffer or get hurt
 When in anger
 Encourages us to play victim
 Because it is easier & better to blame others or external
circumstances
 Listening to listen to Subconscious to find external
scapegoat and explain uncomfortable emotions
 Programs subconscious to avoid looking deep in the
problem and
 Misses to be
Can we do something
 Subconscious......
 Second function of subconscious to ensure safety forces
us to
 Avoid embracing change
 Talks us out of our pursuits of dream and future
 Sabotages our growth , relationship ,hopes ,dreams
and may turn out to be costly
 Always tries to warn of things that could happen ,but
conscious must evaluate
 What to dismiss and
 What to pay attention to
 Brain and subconscious can focus 100% on one or two things hence
prioritise
 Hijacking our subconscious is a way to visualise what
you want to see for yourself and deliberately move things
Can we do something
 Enlist conscious
 Use both conscious and subconscious mind
 Take time and slowdown
 Stop and consult conscious
 Extend space between stimulus and response
 Check in with self
 Let conscious run the show at critical time
Ask Your self
 Is this reaction/action serving me
 Subconscious persuades one to do something that feels
good for short time
 Conscious is a voice of reason for long term purpose
 Armed with awareness it is easy to take right decision
 What is this really about
 Stopping to ask yourself will help uncover new
information
 Reflection is the key
 May recall our inappropriate behaviour about which we
regret later
 Remind that you can do hard things
 People avoid new things because it is hard
 Consciously remind Subconscious that you can do hard
things
Ask Your self
 Just Take Action
 Due to safety concern Subconscious loves acting in
 Routine
 Predictable way
 Often to simply do or change nothing
 Tricks us in to feeling fear
 Fear inhibits action
 Action can overcome fear
 Consciously choose one or two action in every situation
 Taking time to slow down and consulting your
conscious mind help taking intentional decisions
