The SAA Career Mentoring program provides current student members with one-on-one guidance from alumni and other professionals on career-related topics through activities like resume reviews, job shadows, and mock interviews. The program aims to support students' academic, personal, and professional development during their time at CWU and after graduation by pairing mentors and mentees who will meet at least monthly. SAA Career Mentoring - Program Outline
1. Program Overview
SAA Career Mentoring provides an opportunity for students to gain valuable guidance on a variety of
career-related topics including one-on-one advice, networking, interviewing and job shadowing.
Mentors provide a positive and lasting influence on students, and impact the Central community in a
meaningful way, by sharing knowledge and expertise.
Mentors and Mentees interact at least once a month by email, phone, social media, or in-person:
• Review resume and other professional documents
• Job shadow; company tour
• Mock interviews
• Share internship and job opportunities
• Share industry related articles and links
• Identify professional, industry or civic organizations and attend a meeting or networking event

Structure: One-on-one; timeframe is defined by Mentor/Mentee
Who can be a Mentor: Alumni Association Board Members; Professionals (alum and non-alum)
Purpose ofMentoring: Contribute to student success during their time at CWU and post-graduation
Program Goals: Guide and coach students through academic, personal, and professional transitions
Expected Outcomes for Mentors: Leadership development; increased awareness of skills,
knowledge, accomplishments, and influence as they guide students to successful endeavors;
sustained interaction/involvement with CWU

How Often Mentors/Mentees will Meet: Once a month,minimum.Interaction does not have to be
in-person (email, Skype, phone). Day/time and method is decided by Mentor/Mentee.

quarter.

Mentees; satisfaction survey (mid-point; end-of-program)
