To me, football is a game created to have fun when you’re a kid, compete as a high
school athlete, and become a better person. Children, as well as fast, strong, smart, and
strong willed athletes willing to do whatever it takes play this game. Football creates so
many good things like a good work ethic, joy, teaches people what competing is like. I know
for me football changed my life around in a big way.
As a kid I played a lot of video games and watched a ton of movies. I used to go to
the library in the summer every day almost and rent like seven movies. I used to make
excuses not to go outside and play with my friends. My mom was really strict so that was
always my excuse. “My mom won’t let me, got to do chores”, “Moms in a bad mood to afraid
to ask”, stuff like that. Then my 8th grade year my mom made me go out for every single
sport possible like football, wrestling, basketball, and track.
After she did that I started spending a lot more time with my friends and went
outside more often. I was just out for it because my mom told me to but then something
happened to me. I developed a will to compete and get better; I couldn’t stand not being the
top dog. Then high school football happened which gave me great skills and traits that I still
use today. For example I developed an extraordinary work ethic and a burning desire to
win. An example would be the fact that I put on 60 pounds in four years of mostly muscle.
That came from the fact that I could not stand to be the underdog, I wanted to win at all
costs which I think is a very valuable trait in myself today.
