The National Women’s History Museum and Quota International Inc. Announce
Coalition Partnership to Expand and Acknowledge Women’s Rights and Gender
Inequity
WASHINGTON, D.C.—March 19, 2015— The National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) and Quota
International Inc. today announced the formation of a Coalition Membership at The Women in Peace
and Conflict Event, hosted at George Washington University.
The event boasted impressive and well-respected panelists: Jody Williams, 1997 Nobel Peace Prize
Laureate and Chair of the Nobel Women’s Initiative; and Dr. Wendy E. Chmielewski, George R. Cooley
Curator at the Swarthmore College Peace Collection. Opening remarks were presented by Kathleen
Kuehnast, Director, Center for Gender & Peacebuilding at the United States Institute of Peace. Closing
remarks were made by Mary Ellsberg, PhD., Director, Global Women’s Institute & Professor of Global
Health at George Washington University.
“We would like to welcome our Coalition partners who are here this evening,[ including] Quota
International, one of our newest supporters,” said Laura Maurer, Program Director at the National
Women’s History Museum.
Julianne Norman, Officer, International Programs at Quota International and Janet Guo, Officer,
Program Development at Quota International were present at the event, along with representatives
from fellow Coalition member organizations, the League of Women Voters and the National Congress of
Black Women. Other Coalition Members include: Girls Inc., Susan B. Anthony Museum & House, and the
National Education Association. The Coalition represents a fast-growing number of national women’s
professional and service organizations committed to “illuminating the role of women in transforming
society and encouraging all people, women and men, to participate in democratic dialogue about our
future.”
“Quota International appreciates the opportunity to join a coalition of such prestigious organizations
working toward a unified goal to educate, inspire, and empower women,” said Barbara Schreiber,
Executive Director for Quota International Inc. “We are women making history, and by working together
we are able to accomplish so much more. Supporting the work of the National Women’s History
Museum builds on the rich history Quotarians around the world have created for nearly a century.”
