The APSU Governors Games Powered by CrossFit Clarksville will benefit the APSU Military Alumni Chapter
Scholarship Endowment. In honor of our military students and their families, proceeds from this event will
fund scholarships to assist those men and women keeping our country safe.
Austin Peay State University continues to be recognized for its dedication to veterans and active duty
military students. The state’s largest provider of higher education to Soldiers, veterans and their families,
Austin Peay was named in 2013, 2014 and 2015 as a“Military Friendly School,”by G.I. Jobs Magazine and is
recognized as one the nation’s“Best For Vets”colleges by the Military Times.
In August 2014, the federal government applauded APSU for being the only school in Tennessee to
implement the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’“8 Keys to Success.”
That initiative seeks to help veterans succeed on campus.
Recently, Austin Peay became one of only four universities in Tennessee to be named a Veterans Education
Transition Support (VETS) Campus by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The certification is
awarded to higher education institutions that not only prioritize outreach to veterans, but also successfully
deliver the services necessary to create a supportive environment where student veterans can prosper while
pursuing their education.
Austin Peay is known for its unwavering support to serve active duty soldiers and veterans and their families
by providing outstanding activities and programs.
Austin Peay joined forces with CrossFit Clarksville, who is well known for the camaraderie of its community
and support of our military, to host a fitness competition that allows CrossFit athletes to compete in honor
of our military heroes. No matter your background, current fitness level, or athletic ability, when you walk
through the doors of CrossFit Clarksville, you are family.
The APSU Governors Games Powered by CrossFit Clarksville continues our commitment to honor our
military. The Governors Games is more than a team competition, the event is an opportunity for all involved
to come together as a community and give back to those who have given so much for us.
Be Excellent. Be Gov Strong.
