6 Doable and Easy Action Ideas to Uproot Human Trafficking Public Service Announcement for Ohio State University by Shahla Khan Within the next 10 years crime experts expect human trafficking to surpass drug and arms trafficking in its incidence, cost to human well being and profitability to criminals (Wheaton et. al, pg. 114) As more and more people are informed about the horrors of modern day slavery, awareness creates anxiety about actions. People want to help but don’t know how (personal observation). In an effort to inform such people who are not experts, volunteers, social workers or academics but general civilians, I created a PSA in the form of a Webinar to provide simple and easily doable activities which can be done in small groups without any significant financial investment. Please note that: • These ideas are not an exhaustive list of ways to combat human trafficking. • Every campaign may not be suitable for all countries but certainly for few. • These ideas are to be implemented with the already existing hotlines and networks in your local areas. Beyond the course: In order to extend my efforts to combat human trafficking beyond the coursera module on Human Trafficking, I launched an online think tank and trust called One Life Foundation.
