1. Fearless Parenthood
Today’sverse fromthe Bible isProverbs22:6. I encourage youto readthisverse to helpyouif youare
aboutto become a parentor needsome guidance withkidsyoualreadyhave. ImustadmitIdon’thave
manyfearsat all.My mottofor life istolive fearlessly,boldlygowhere noone hasgone before.LOL.I’m
serious.Whatisthe pointin livingif youcan’tbe boldand courageousandworkthroughany fearsthat
youhave.You can’t getwhat youwant outof life,youmissthe chancesyounevertake,the boatsets
sail and leavesyoubehind,andthere goyouramazingmiracles,outthe window.Whywouldyouwant
to live like thatandmissouton the most amazingthingsaboutlife?I wouldn’t,butImustsay
parenthoodisone of those bigdealsthatmakesme shiveralittle bit. Iam notquite a parentyet,but I
do have twolittle onesonthe wayso I am preparingnow fortheirgrand arrival thisyear.So givingyou
advice comesfrom observingmysisterswhoall have kidsandotherfriendswhoIhave watchedtheir
kidsgrowup. I have seenwhatworksandwhat doesn’tandmostimportantly,Ihave askedforguidance
spirituallyformyself.Ihave beenparentingadogfor more than tenyearsso I doknow a little bitabout
the worriesandconcernsof takingcare of someone orsomethingthatdependsonyouforeverything.
Beinga parentishuge.It redefinesyourlife andyourpriorities.Youhave abrand new life totake care of
and that meansthattinylittle person,whowillone daybe a bigpersonlike you,will dependonyoufor
everything.Notjustsome things,buteverything.Youhave tomake sure yourkidsare fedat leastthree
timesa dayand you betterhave snacksor theywill getcranky.Youhave to watch the little oneslike a
hawkbecause theymove fast,youturnyour headand getdistractedone minute orevenasecondand
turn back aroundand theyare downthe streetorin the street.OMG! You have to make sure your home
issafe for thembecause kidslike toexplore andgetintoeverything,Imeaneverything,includingthe
dryer.How inthe worlddoesthat happen?Aargh!Youhave to make sure theygo to theirdoctor
appointmentsperiodically.Youcanstill have alife andhave some funbut theyhave to be firstafter you

2. make sure you take care of yourself soyoucan take care of them. If theyget sickyoupanic and pray
and hope theydon’thave some fatal disease ortheydon’tdie.Youhave tomake sure theyare
academicallyreadyforschool.Youhave tomake sure youhire a decentandreputable nannyor
babysittersoyourkiddoesn’tgetabusedwhenyouare not around.You have tosay goodbye every
single daywhentheygoto school andyou go to work, andyou don’tknow whatis goingto happen
because youcan’t be there.Youhave to encourage them, motivate them, coddle themsometimes,love
themunconditionally,naughtyornice,holdthem, laughwiththem, playwiththem,plantheirlivesuntil
theyare oldenoughtoplantheir ownlives,redirectthemanddiscipline them, make sure theywakeup
whenyouput themto sleep,andbe the bestversionof youbecause theyare alwayswatching.Theydo
whattheysee more than whatyou tell them.Phew,that’salotof work,isn’tit?That is virtuallythe
biggestjobinthe world aftertakingcare of yourself, andmostimportant afteryou because youare
takingcare of anotherlife.Godhas entrustedalife inyourhands.Sothat’sprettyscary. However,you
don’thave to navigate parenthoodfullof fear.Isaidbefore the Bible isourinstructionbookforliving
and guesswhat,God makessure herwordgivesyouample instructiononhow toraise and take care of
your children.Kindof likehowGodtakescare of her children….us.Godloves usunconditionallyno
matterwhat we do,how we look,where we have been,orevenif we saywe hate her or don’twant
anythingtodo withher.God still lovesusandherlove isthe greatestlove of all.Thisishow we should
parentas well.
Unfortunately, somanyparentslettheirchildrengotoosoonand give upon parentingthem.Fathers
more than motherswalkawayfromtheirkidsbecause theyare eithertoolazyto take care of them,too
frustratedthattheyhave thishuge responsibility,ormaybe somethinghappenedandtheyjustcan’tbe
aroundtheirkidanymore sotheygive up fightingforthem. Don’tgive upfightingforyourchild. God
doesletusgo because she wantsus to come back to her. But herguidance,herspirit,hertruth,her
wordis always there soshe nevergivesuponus. The Bible saysinJames4:8 “Draw nearto God and
God will drawnearto you”.This meansGodhas givenusfree will tolive aswe please butshe wantsus
to come to her soshe can take care of us.Her handsare tiedif we walkawaybecause she hasto take
care of the entire world.We are all herchildren.And she giveswomenthe miraculousabilitytocarry a
life sowe can be parentson the planet andbe responsible foranother life andhave afamily. AndGod
givesmenthe beautifulabilitytoplantthe seedinthe wombof the woman. So parentshave tomake
sure theygive theirchildrenatonof attentionsoparentsgetclose andbuilda bondwiththeirchildren.
God put herson here togive hislife asJesustoprove her love andthenletsusgo on our ownto come
back to her.Thenshe leavesusinstructionsonhow tobe fearlessparents.
First,if youare a parent,be grateful thatyouhad the abilityandprivilege toevenbe aparent.Somany
people can’thave a babyand that isnot God’s faultthat issinin the worldand mankindmake alot of
mistakeswiththeirbodies.Next,prepare forparenthoodassoonas youhave made the decisionthat
youwant to be a parent.Somany people are justnotreadyforparenthoodandtheirkidsendupbeing
neglectedbecausetheyare still figuringoutwhotheyare andtheystill wanta youthful adventurouslife
withoutdistractionsorresponsibilities.Sothe kidsuffersbecause the parentwasn’tready.Once you
have decidedyouwanttobe a parent,make sure your prayerand spiritual life isintiptopshape
because youwill have questionsandGodcan answerthembetterthanany manor womancan. So ask
God to prepare youfor thisgreattask of parenthoodthatis comingforyou and make sure youadd that
youwant itto be God’swill.Womengetangryall the time whentheyhave trouble gettingpregnant.
Maybe it‘s not the righttime,maybe the fatherisnotthe rightfather,maybe youare not meantto be a

3. parentand God has anotheramazingtaskfor youthat couldbe beinga parentto fosterkidsor adopting
a kid,or beinga bigsisteror bigbrother.
There couldbe a lotof factors infailedpregnanciesandsometimesit’sourfaultbecause of how we
have treatedourbody,our temple. Somake sure yousay thisprayer.Then,whenyoudoget pregnant
ladiesandmen,because menhave pregnancysymptomstoo,make sure youprayall the time foryour
unbornbabyor babies,andtobe the bestfearlessparentyoucanpossiblybe.Be readyandyouwill be
joyful andhappyduringyourparentingwhichdoesn’tenduntilyoudie. Ihave beenblessedwithan
amazingmotherwhoisalwaysthere forme nomatter whatand that makesme wantto do the same
thingwhenIhave my kidssoon.I am an adultand she has notcheckedoutand I am so grateful forthat.
Make sure youhave done some solidself-discoverybeforeyouare a parentbecause youhave no
businesstryingtofigure outwhoyouare while raisingachild.Youwill disappointyourkidseverelyand
yes,youwon’tbe perfect,youwill make mistakesbutyouneedtoknow whoyouare before youtryto
helpyourchilddiscoverwhotheyare.Checkyourbehavior,checkyourattitude,checkyourpersonality,
checkyour lifestyle,checkyourfinances(thisis huge,kidsare expensive),checkyourmental health,
checkyour physical healthandmake sure yourmind,bodyandspiritare intactand operating
successfully.If youhave problemsorissues,andyouwill,make sure youare strongenoughto deal with
themwhile parenting.Askforhelpall the time andGodwill getinyour headandyour heartand stepin
to guide you.Take breaks,goon vacations,spendtime withfriends,have “me time”,pamperyourself,
love yourself soyoucanlove yourchildren.Dothe funthingsyouwant to donow before youbecome a
parentso youdon’tget hurt andsad that youdidn’tlive afunlife before becomingaparent.Be wise
and keepyourselfholyandpure until marriage soyoudon’thave unwantedsurprises.If youhappento
ignore thisadvice andyouget pregnant,askforhelpif the fatheris notinvolvedandbe preparedthat
maybe the fatherthat isinvolvedmaywalkawayfromyouand the child.
If you have losta childto deathor theyhave justwalkedoutof your life because theydon’twant
anythingtodo withyouthat is quite painful.Isuggest,once again,askingGodforhelpto getthrough
that. Noparentwantsto lose a childto death.Some parentsendupdeadthemselveswithbroken
heartsor theytake theirlivesbecause theybelievetheycannothandle the deathof theirprecious
offspring.Ibelieve anyone canhandle itandyoucan live onand celebrate yourchild’slife ontheir
birthday.Youcan neverreplace achild,butyou justmighthave anotherbundle of joycomingintoyour
life againlateron.Askfor strengthandkeeponmoving.
If you are a parentand youhaven’tseenyourchildina longtime andyou wantto reunite orfindthat
childI encourage youtopray about itbeforehand.Some kidsenduphatingtheirparentsforleavingor
not beingaroundwhile theyweregrowingup.It’strickywithkids,theyhave highexpectationsandthey
are veryneedy.If youweren’tthere theymaynottrustyouat all.So be preparedforwhatevercomes
whenyoudecide toreachout. AndI encourage youto reach outfirstbecause youare the parent,the
adultand yourchildneedsyou. AskGod to opena lovingdoorfora new connection.Be strongbecause
youmay have some tearscomingand a lot of questions fromyourchild.Take itslow andgive yourchild
room to trustyou againand come back to youlike Godwaitsfor herchildrentocome back to her.
Alwaysbe readyforthe giftsyou askfor. Bottomline,anythingcanhappenwhenyoubecome aparent
and if youhave a lotof fearyouwill make toomanymistakes.Remember,thisisanotherlife entrusted
inyour care, soprepare,prepare,prepare,enjoyyourkidsnomatterhow oldtheyare and don’tlet
themknowyouare afraidof them.Youare the parent,youmake the agreementsandrules,you
