7. I am guessing most middle-aged men
have long-established ways to find
temporary relief from the stress and
other difficult things in life. And we do
them over and over despite the
temporariness of these escapes….
8. Yet we know what we should be doing. We know
where we should be running. We know where to
find relief in a big way.
We go to the Lord God, and prayer and His Word…
9. We know this life includes troubles, but I
love how Paul puts this in perspective.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even
though our outward man is perishing, yet
the inward man is being renewed day by
day. For our light affliction, which is but for
a moment, is working for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
while we do not look at the things which
are seen, but at the things which are not
seen. For the things which are seen are
temporary, but the things which are not
seen are eternal.” 2Cor 4:16-18
10. The key to life is to stop
running to things that don’t
bring long term relief…
11. Come to the One who brings
relief. How do I spell
relief?…Jesus
12. Don’t find relief in the
wrong places.
