Education
June 2016 Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, Portland State University
Major Track: Power Engineering
Gpa: 3.59 | Detailed List of Exams
June 2017 Master’s in Power Engineering, Portland State University
Projects
1. (Current Capstone Project) PGE sponsored peak shaving study using residential heat
pump and thermal storage system:
• Studying the ability to shift demand both to decrease peak periods and to better
utilize non-dispatchable generating resources in Green Building Research labora-
tory. Research is to use the thermal mass of the home storage to shift power
usage away from peak demand periods.
2. Simulating 5 year Photo-Voltaic Growth using EEPRI Test circuits in the OpenDss power
system modeling tool:
• Simulate a transmission system using the base EEPRI test models and inserting
photovoltaic elements across a residential power grid over a 5 year period with
customizable weather, photovoltaic size and clustering effects.
3. PLC-based synchronous generator synchronizing system:
• Designed and built an automated system for synchronizing a generator to an
infinite bus
4. PLC programmed Y to ∆ soft start motor system:
• Designed motor soft-start algorithm using Do-More ladder logic program with
PLC.
5. Three Phase PCB board for synchronizing generator to infinite bus:
• Designed an analog printed circuit board to detect 3 phase RMS magnitude and
phase for coupling two separate three phase systems.
6. Fourier Real-Time Spectrogram using MatLab:
• Programmed custom user interface GUI in MatLab for real-time spectrogram using
the Fast Fourier Transform
7. Controlling 4 asynchronous motors via a main touch-screen control station panel. PLC
controlled motor stations operating with custom feedback controllers and varying
load-torque settings:
• Tuned PID motor speed and torque controller.
• Communicated via intranet from one main touch-screen control panel to 4 PLC
controlled auxiliary PID motor stations.
2. Engineering Skills
• AGILE project management methodology.
• Have made numerous printable circuit boards for power electronics applications
• Bill of materials, operator manuals, points list for project reports
• Wired fully functional control panels
• Control power circuits using programmable logic controller (PLC)
• AC and DC motor powering and wiring abilities
• Analog transistor circuit design (BJT, MOSFET)
• Programming micro-controller’s to control outputs via machine level coding language
• Intranet communication systems
Software Skills
• MatLab, Powerworld, OpenDss distribution modeling, AutoCAD, LTSpice,
• C Programming - Versatile with technical concepts, language and functionality (Using
code-composer studio)
• C-More and Do-More ladder logic programming
• Expert in coding logical algorithms
Work Experience
Current Tutor at Portland State University
Sept 2014 Electrical Engineering Tutor for 100 through 300 level courses
Provide tutoring to undergraduate students in the Portland State Electrical Engineering
program.
Current Teacher’s Assistant at Portland State University
Jan 2015 Weekly grader for PSU ECE 102 MatLab course
My role is to attend all of the lab sessions and help struggling students learn MatLab
coding skills that can be used for their engineering courses. Students receive my feedback
of their MatLab code and are tutored at available times.
Current Park Technician at Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District
March 2012 Event set up and park maintenance
Supervise 2-3 seasonal part time employees in the summer to set up for weekly concerts
and events. During the fall, winter and spring season I supervise 1-2 seasonal workers to
maintain 18 public parks on a weekly route.
