Women’s IntensIve ResIdentIal PRogRam
• Founded in 1998.
• Part of the chemical abuse and dependency services offered
by the Credo Community Center for the Treatment of
Additions, Inc.
• Located in Watertown, NY.
• Provides intensive, residential (in-patient) treatment of
substance abuse for women only.
• Outside of New York City, this is one of the only long-term
residential treatment programs for women in the state.
• Clients come from all over the state.
3. Populations Served & Eligibility
• Serving women, 16 years of age or older, including pregnant
women, and women with pre-school age children (<5 years).
• To be eligible, clients must have a history of substance abuse
and previous attempts at recovery.
• Clients come to the program mandated or voluntarily.
Most clients are mandated into treatment by drug court.
• OASAS Part 819.8 form is used to determine initial eligibility
for services.
• Nobody is turned away for lack of insurance.
The program takes insurance, Medicaid, and self-pay.

• Uses the Minnesota Model of treatment:
ongoing assessment of all aspects of the client,
and multi-modal approach to therapy.

• Observed two new client intakes.
• Observed many Group and Individual sessions.
• Planned a Group session (Team Building).
• Observed and helped write goals for a treatment plan.
• Performed quality control checks of several client records in
preparation for OASAS inspection.
• Helped with client sign-ups for the YMCA Shamrock Run.
• Helped with spelling bee practice in Vocational Education.
• Met a lot of different people and learned more about them.
