EXPERIENCE & NOTABLE CONTRIBUTIONS
MERCK & COMPANY • Kenilworth, NJ • 2009 - 2013
SCIENTIST – BIOCHEMISTRY & BIOPHYSICS; IN VITRO PHARMACOLOGY
Contributed to assay development, screening and in-depth utilization of boceprevir (VICTRELISTM), a first-in-class Oral
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Protease Inhibitor that earned FDA approval in 2011. Partnered with Therapy Area associates to
lead a human hepatocyte transporter uptake study that enabled the later identification of a specific transporter involved.
Ensured strict adherence to safety and regulatory compliance as a member of the Environment & Health Safety
committee.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
• Developed the kinetic profiling of six lead compounds, 12 mutant enzyme assay developments and integration of
two counter screen assays to boost the protease back up program and optimize the best-in-class HCV back-up
compound.
• Identified critical data sets from multiple studies that were included within MRL Leadership Team program reviews.
• Facilitated the transfer of an HTRF assay to the Screening Operations group by optimizing two assay modes for a
kinase activator study.
• Distinguished with Merck & Company’s 2013 Shining Performance Recognition Award and 2012 Environmental,
Health and Safety Divisional President’s Award for exemplary contributions.
SCHERING-PLOUGH RESEARCH INSTITUTE • Kenilworth, NJ • 2006 - 2009
ASSISTANT SCIENTIST, FLASH HIGH-THROUGHPUT SCREENING (HTS); NEW LEAD DISCOVERY
Oversaw the development of more than seven functional cell-based GPCR assays. Monitored and sustained over 30 high-
quality GPCR plasmid DNA stocks. Executed an assay development of four orphan GPCRs. Controlled the screening of
three kinase assays within 384-well and 1536-well formats.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
• Boosted GPCR counter screening programs by executing more than 20 validated cell-based assays.
• Administered a calcium flux cell-based assay to support a CXCR4 HIV entry inhibitor study.
• Delivered a 33% reduction in year-over-year costs per well for reagents and supplies through the design of overall
procedural improvements associated with the ultra HTS system.
UMDNJ-RWJMS DEPT. OF MOLECULAR GENETICS, MICROBIOLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY • Piscataway, NJ • 2002 - 2006
RESEARCH TEACHING SPECIALIST V, LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Supervised the operational logistics and needs of the academic research laboratory with a focus on equipment
maintenance, laboratory supplies and inventory management. Prepared reporting and recordkeeping process to
improve departmental functioning and management. Increased laboratory safety programs and enforcement as the
Radiation Safety Officer and Laboratory Safety Officer.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
• Directed the training and productivity related to tissue culture and molecular biology practices for five medical,
graduate and undergraduate students.
• Guided the execution of many detailed experiments and studies associated with cell biology, biochemistry and
molecular biology with several extensive studies on prostate cancer and HPV cell lines that were published in two
peer-reviewed publications.
Out of the workforce since 2013 to care for three children and serve as a homeschool teacher and home manager.
