Solutions to Hold Job Fair
Boone, NC-- As spring returns to the High Country and summer hiring begins, the Watauga
JobLink and NC Division of Employment Service, in partnership with the High Country
Workforce Development Board and local Veterans Service Organizations, will hold Hiring
Heroes Veteran Career Showcase and Community Job Fair March 21, 2012 9:00 A.M. - 1:00
P.M. at the National Guard Armory on Hunting Hills Lane in Boone.
“We understand that spring is a busy time for area businesses” said Anita Lowe, Watauga
JobLink and Division of Employment Services Office Manager. “To help reduce the demands of
finding qualified staff members, we are attempting to bring jobseekers and employers together in
one place.”
In recognition of the service and sacrifices made by military service members, the Hiring Heroes
Career Showcase will offer military veterans exclusive entry to the event from 9:00 A.M. –
10:00 A.M. The general public is then invited to attend from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
“Veterans have a lot to offer employers,” said Charles Anderson, Veterans Representative and
Job Fair Coordinator. “As a group, veterans are highly disciplined, adaptable and resourceful
individuals who have persevered through some challenging and adverse situations. They have
had increasing responsibilities from a young age, learned the importance of technical proficiency
and know how to work autonomously while talking direction from authority.”
The Hiring Heroes Career Showcase and Community Job Fair is co-sponsored by the High
Country Workforce Development Board, North Carolina National Guard 1451st
Transportation
Company, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7031, American Legion Post 130, Disabled American
Veterans Chapter 90 and US Marine Corps League Detachment 1320.
Participating Employers include Bank of America, RHA Health Services, Aaron’s Sales and
Lease and Watauga County Schools and others. Employers will be added to the event as space
permits. The event is free to both employers and job seekers and is open to the general public.
