1. Dear
Special Olympics Wisconsin-Southeastern Region is hosting its 17th
annual Polar Plunge on Saturday,
February 6, 2016 at The Brat Stop/Parkway Chateau, in Kenosha, WI. The Polar Plunge is Special
Olympics Wisconsin’s largest and most well-known fundraising event. The Kenosha Polar Plunge is one
of 14 Plunges held throughout Wisconsin. The purpose of this event is to be “freezin’ for a reason” and to
raise funds to carry out the Special Olympics mission-To provide year-round sports training and athletic
competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with cognitive disabilities, giving
them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and
participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes
and the community.
Special Olympics Wisconsin’s Southeastern Regional office supports nearly 1,400 local Special Olympics
athletes, from five counties--Racine, Kenosha, Rock, Walworth and Jefferson. Our Regional office hosts
events throughout these five counties year round to support our local sporting tournaments.
We would like to congratulate Tau Sigma Phi on their amazing participation to fundraise for the Polar
Plunge! As a team, under the guidance of Chad Westenberg as Philanthropic chair, Tau Sigma Phi has
raised the following for Special Olympics Wisconsin Kenosha Polar Plunge:
2014: 10 team members raised $1,476.00
2015: 22 team members raised $2,105.00
Tau Sigma Phi is the number one University organization fundraiser in Kenosha and top 4 team
fundraisers for the entire plunge!
Thank you for your outstanding support of Special Olympics Wisconsin and we look forward to seeing
what your team can accomplish in 2016!
Sincerely,
Brittany Neukirchen Kathy VanDuyn
