Meal Preparation and Clean Up: Instruction in list making, grocery shopping, label
reading, recipes, ingredients, kitchen tools, cooking multi step meals, appropriate
cleaning practices, and kitchen safety.
Personal Health and Wellness: Teaching appropriate hygiene, grooming, attire,
prescription management, self-management skills, drug and alcohol awareness,
understanding relationship boundaries in a social and sexual context.
Financial Management: Teaching budgeting, consumer awareness, banking and credit
card management.
Community Mobility: Teaching Access to public transportation.
Access to Community Resources via Internet Instruction: Teaching basic computer
and internet skills to access resources in the community.
Socialization: Group outings to practice and utilize appropriate socialization skills.
Independent Life Skills
Lanakila Pacific’s Independent Life Skills (ILS) program is in operation and we are
actively seeking participants. Instruction of our core services (see below) occurs in
group classes / social events and in individual sessions according to the preference of
the individual.
Group classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week from
3:00pm-5:00pm at Lanakila Pacific offices at 1809 Bachelot Street, while individual
sessions are based on the needs of the participant and can be held at Lanakila Pacific
offices or in the community upon participant request.
