2. Tutees of the Quarter
We would like to recognize these students for all of their hard work!
Marina Pineda
Marina has been the best behaved student in the ESL group
this quarter. Marina used to be afraid of talking to tutors who
don’t speak Spanish because of her limited ability but she’s been
really working hard on curriculum with her tutors and she’s
been developing her English skills and using them to talk to
more tutors. She’s been engaged with a lot of the other students
and participated a lot more in activities.
Andrea Garcia
Andrea’s a wonderful kid, very hardworking, honest, and
affectionate! Her ability to read has gone through the roof in
such a short time period. At the beginning, she was very shy
and not willing to read, but now she always wants to participate
and she can read almost anything! Being able work with
Andrea and help her progress to the confident reader she is has
been the highlight of working with Project WILD for a lot of
us here.
Adan Perez
Adan is a wonderful student. we really admire Adan because he
is very calm and easygoing, but works very hard and tries his best
no matter what. Even when the writing part of the curriculum
seems like a big challenge, Adan works through it and does a
great job! Thank you for being such a great student, Adan! Keep
on being you!
Tommy Esquivel
Tommy is a model student. His enthusiasm and hard work
have been an inspiration not only to the other students but
also to his tutors. It is such a pleasure working with Tommy
every week. He always has a good attitude, loves to participate
in group activities, and even encourages the other students to
participate, do their work, and follow the rules. Tommy makes
our job easier, and we love him for it!
Dear families of Project WILD,
This has been a wonderful Winter
Quarter for Project WILD!
We have had many super fun
mystery-themed activities. Our
tutees have been learning about
detectives, acting as secret agents,
and solving puzzles. In addition,
we have been working hard on
improving our curriculum, and
we have implemented a new sign
out system to keep our kids safer.
For our field trip, we brought
the kids to UCLA to solve the
mystery of the missing Bruin
bears! A few weeks ago, we
introduced our tutees to Joe and
Josephine Bruin’s cubs. The kids
all voted and gave adorable names
to the baby bears. Unfortuately,
the bears were kidnapped by Dr.
Evil! Throughout the field trip,
the kids went to different stations
and learned a variety of math,
science, art, and other topics in
order to find the bears!
Thank you for all of your support!
We really appreciate it, and we
look forward to more fun times
with you!
Sincerely,
Project WILD
