2. About The Ministry
The National Day Prayer Committee formed a national prayer subcommittee in
1981, which became the National Day of Prayer Task Force in 1989. Led first
by Vonette Bright until 1991, then by Shirley Dobson until Anne Graham Lotz
assumed the position of Chairman in 2016. Since 1993, there have been 1,361
proclamations by the President of the United States and state leaders,
encouraging all Americans to pray on the National Day of Prayer.
Today, more than 48,000 events, reaching millions of people are coordinated
by more than 17,000 NDP Task Force volunteer leaders across the nation.
Since 2012, Tucson has been presented with proclamations from the City of
Tucson and Pima County. This year we also received them from City of South
Tucson, Town of Sahuarita, Town of Marana, and Oro Valley. A total of 14 in 5

4. I loved the diversity in the room and appreciated the heartfelt prayer of those who prayed
on the mics and around the room. Some of the comments had to do with the flexibility to
allow for spontaneous prayer over some of the topics. A local radio station leader
commented that he had not thought about praying beyond his own station but when asked
to pray for media, he felt a sense of conviction to pray for the bigger picture. Matt Merrill
Unity in the Body of Christ Rev. Todd Arnold and Deaconess Jeri Morrison
I liked that a Christian Business man prayed for the businesses and that a retired Christian
Military man prayed for the military. Pastor Brian Steely
We were able to join in unity with several other churches to pray for our nation. After
worship and a brief message we had targeted prayer utilizing pastors and members from
several churches. Tayler Coy
5. We broke up into teams of 3-4 and walked around the government buildings, praying for our
government, government officials, workers and their families. Brian Goodall
The night was amazing. We had various performers on stage from Dance, Poetry, Hip Hop,
Tucson South Corps Timbrels. Our seven pillar of influence prayer focus were led by youth who
had a parent or family member in the particular area. We had Real Life Youth Worship,
BattleGround City, and Grace to the Nations Revelation lead in praise and worship songs. We
ended the event with an altar call and closing time of prayer. The Businesses and ministries at the
event were Mary Kay, Designs by Grace, Crafts, Grace to The Nation's, Salvation Army, Real
Life Youth, Passion, Son Life Chapel, Desert View HS, Silver Scoops AZ, Calvary Tucson, AZ
Chaplain Corps, Edge, Templo La Unicion, Sahuaro HS, San Miguel HS, and Palo Verde. We
had two food trucks. Roseanna Gonzalez and Marcia Johnson
They all appreciated hearing some of the history about NDP; NDP Task Force and the reading of
the President's NDP Proclamation, and also handing out Flyers/Pamphlets with some Prayer
Guidelines with Scriptures of the different areas to pray for (i.e. Church/Government/
Businesses/Education, etc.) Pastor/Chaplain Karen Kelly
Our church was able to partner with at least 11 other churches in our city and connect on a more
intimate level through corporate prayer Room 24. Youth Pastor Gilbert
6. Emphasized 3 generations praying together focused on the 3 prayer topics 'hear us' - 'forgive
us'-heal us'. engaged people in attendance to pray together in groups - had corporate prayer
led from mic at conclusion of each topic along with strong worship through prayer meeting. Jan
Anderson - Christie Klein
Grace to the Nations (GTTN) had over two hundred people in attendance. GTTN started out
with the National Anthem. Pastor Obed and Catherine Mark opened the event up. GTTN had
praise and worship sing three songs, Rosalie Ibarra and Catherine Mark were in the praise and
worship. Then the seven pillars or influence were led by Pastors in the church. GTTN ended
with a time of repentance and praying the sinner's prayer. Three attendees stopped at the
National Day of Prayer table to receive a bookmark so they could be reminded to pray for our
nation. Pastor Jorge Apodaca
A detailed message is on our web page www.room24az.com. Elias Anyad
Unity in the Body of Christ. Pastor Bruce Van Sickle
We had a tremendous Prayer Day! People from all kinds came and a few are coming back to
God! So in our side of town people were glad that our church was open that day. We are so
honored to be part of N D P. God bless you for all you do for God’s Kingdom
8. The AZ National Day of Prayer on May 4, 2017 for Pima County was a success.
We had 16 event coordinators who raised together $2,247.88 and total cost
for events was $1630.23. It was a blessing coordinating events with the new
Assistant Pima County Coordinator Rosalie Ibarra, Southern Pima County
Coordinator, Pastor Bruce Van Sickle, Brian Gooddal, Paul Parisi, Matt Merril,
Pastor Lupe, Roseanna Gonzalez, Marcia Johnson, Elias Abyad, Pastor Gil,
Taylor Coy, Pastor Karen Kelly, Joseph and Laura Rivera, Diana Larroque,
Winona Williams, D Debbie Wall, and Johnny Lucero. We had 186
volunteers and over 1276 attendees. It was a great blessing to have Room 24
host the 24 hour prayer at Son Life Chapel on May 3, 2017. From Eastside
Prayer Breakfast to Westside Prayer Kick-off Breakfast, to Northside Saddle
Brook Aglow to Southside Agape Church, the Holy Spirit was filling Pima
County with His presence. On May 5, 2017, the Youth Army Rising 3rd
Edition led a powerful event at Kennedy Park Fiesta Area. God showered his
presence in a mighty way in Tucson.
