4. Barack Obama was born on August 4th, 1961 in
Hawaii. His parents were both students at the
University of Hawaii . His father’s name was
Barack Obama Sr.. He was a black man from
Kenya, and his mother’s name was Ann
Dunham. She was a white woman from
Kansas.
His parents separated when he was two years
old and his father returned to Kenya.

5. After the divorce his mother remarried, this time
to a student from Indonesia, and the family
moved to Jakarta where Barack studied in an
Indonesian school.
When he was ten years old he went to live with
his grandparents (his mother's parents) who
moved to Hawaii. While attending school in
Hawaii he was one of only three black students
in the school.
In 1982 his real father died in a car accident.
His mother died of cancer in 1994.

6. After graduating from high school he attended
college in Los Angeles and then graduated from
Columbia University in New York.
Next he attended law school at Harvard and
became a civil rights lawyer. He also taught at
the University of Chicago Law School.

7. In 1992 he married Michelle Robinson. They had
two daughters: Malia and Natasha.
Barack can play basketball and he also can speak
English, Indonesian and some Spanish.
In 2008 people elected Barack Obama as the new
president of the United States.
It was a truly historical event in the country.
In 2009, he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

simple, humble and brave person who
became the first black president of the
United States.
