Physical features Ibex are typically about 30 to 170 centimetres from their
hooves to withers. Ibex tend to weigh about 30 to 120
kilograms.
Both male and female ibex have very long horns, which are
used for territorial defence and sexual selection
Where do they live? They live on cliffs that would be dangerous for predators.
Ibexes are found on craggy terrains between the timber
and snow lines above the alpine forests of the European
Alps. Ibexes tend to occupy steep, rocky habitats at
elevations of between 2,000 – 4,600 metres.
Means of locomotion They can jump, run, walk, and climb high mountains.
They can’t fly, swing.
How is its body covering? They have got fur, hooves, horn.
How does it breathe? They have got lungs.
How does it reproduce? Breeding season for ibex is called the rut. During the rut,
males fight for the right to breed with the females by
pushing their heads together. The winners will court the
female in a process that can take around 30 minutes. The
gestation period of the female ibex is around 6 months.
What do it eat? They eat shrubs, bushes and grasses.

We hunt them and wolves hunt them too.
Is it an endangered animal? They are not now under threat of extinction
2. Great bustard

Physical features They have a bulging neck and a heavy chest, with a
characteristically cocked tail. The breeding plumage of
males includes white moustachial whiskers that are 20cm
long, and their back and tail become more vividly coloured.
They develop a band of feathers on their breast and lower
neck that are russet coloured, becoming brighter and wider
as they get older.
Where do they live? They live on grassland or steppe defined by open, flat or
somewhat rolling landscapes.
Means of locomotion They can fly, walk, run.
They can’t swing.
How is its body covering? They have feathers.
How does it breathe? They have got lungs.
How does it reproduce? In this species, the male has a flamboyant display beginning
with the strutting male puffing up his throat to the size of a
football. The displaying males, who may walk around for
several minutes at a time with feathers flared and head
buried waiting for hens to arrive, have been described as a
"foam-bath" because of their appearance.
What do it eat? They eat vegetation such as grass, legumes, crucifers,
grains, flowers and grapes.

We hunt them. They died by poison and chemical products.
Dogs are serious threats for chicks and juveniles.
Is it an endangered animal? It is vulnerable.
3. GOLDEN TOAD

Physical features They are small toads, reaching lengths of 5.5 cms .Males
are golden or orange and their skin is shiny and bright.
Females are dark olive or black and they have scarlet spots
with yellow edges. They have a shiny appearance and
bright-orange colour. The male toads are bright golden
orange. Their back is evenly coloured while the belly was
lightly blotched. The females are either dark green or total
black with yellowish-red smudges on their back. Their
ventral region is yellowish-green to orange in appearance.
Where do they live? Golden Toads were found in Northern Costa Rica. They
lived under ground for most of the year.

They can’t fly, dance, slide
How is its body covering? Females have scarlet spots with yellow edges.
How does it breathe? When they are young they have got gills, however when
they are adults they have got lungs.
How does it reproduce? They reproduce during one week in April. Males would
gather around small pools and wait for females. They
would fight amongst themselves for the opportunity to
breed.
Approximately 200 eggs would be laid in a clutch in the
water and they would hatch 2 months later.
What do it eat? They eat small insects.

The main problems for the golden toad are: the chytrid
fungus, dry conditions, higher temperatures and lower
seasonal rainfall.
Is it an endangered animal? They are critically endangered.
4. Brook Trout

Physical features Size: Adults grow between 10 inches and 26 inches (25 cm
and 65 cm) in length.
Weight: They generally weigh from 0.3 to 3 kg (11 to 112
ounces).
Body: Their elongate bodies are slightly compressed
laterally.
Head: The trouts have a large head with rounded snouts.
Breeding males may develop a hook at the front of their
lower jaw.
Tail Fin: The characteristic squarish tail fins are sometimes
slightly forked.Size: Adults grow between 10 inches and
26 inches (25 cm and 65 cm) in length.
Where do they live? They prefer freshwater creeks, spring ponds, lakes and small
streams where the water. Brook trout generally inhabits
clear water with pH ranging from 5 to 7.5.
Means of locomotion It can swim and dive.
How is its body covering? They have got scales.
How does it breathe? They have got gills so they take oxygen from wáter.
What do it eat? These carnivorous fish feed on various smaller fish species,
insects, crustaceans, mollusks and other invertebrates.

However, large brown trouts are known to prey on them.
Various fish-eating birds, such as herons and kingfishers,
also hunt them.
Is it an endangered animal? They are not in danger.
