10. John 4: 39-42
Meanwhile, because one woman shared with her neighbours
how Jesus had told her life story, exposing her past and
present, the village of Sychar was transformed—many local
people heard and believed.
The locals approached Jesus and repeatedly invited Him to
stay with them, so He lingered there for a couple of days.
When they heard from Jesus directly, there were many more
believing Samaritans.
They began their faith journey because of the testimony of
the woman beside the well; but when they heard directly for
themselves, they were convinced the One they were hearing
was the One sent to rescue the entire world.

14. DISCIPLESHIP DEFINED
1. A pupil or follower of any teacher or school
2. An Apprentice
2. An early follower of Jesus
3. One who accepts and assists in spreading
the doctrines of another
Think of these definitions of a disciple in three parts:
One who hears, obeys, and spreads Jesus’ commands.
One who is following Jesus, changed by Jesus and on
mission with Jesus.

23. “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man
scatters seed on the ground. Night and day,
whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and
grows, though he does not know how. All by itself
the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the
head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as
the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because
the harvest has come.”
Mark 4:26-29

FOLLOWERS AND GAVE THEM POWER AND AUTHORITY
OVER ALL DEMONS AND TO CURE DISEASES, AND HE

30. John 4: 39-42

38. Relational
Map
Let’s make a
relationship map of
every person you’re
connected to.
Begin by drawing a
circle in the middle of
the paper and writing
your name in that
circle.
Me
who might I influence-
WHO to tell?
39. Now begin writing names
in circles connected to
your circle.
Write every person you
know. Think of your…
family, friends,
neighbours, co-
workers/colleagues,
neighbours,
acquantances, etc
Carl
who might I influence-
WHO to tell?
40. Carl

Next, draw out the
connections (names or
relationships) that these
people have.
In John 17:20-21, Jesus
modeled praying for both
his disciples, and their
future disciples! We can
do the same.

43. MY STORY
THINK ABOUT YOUR
LIFE BEFORE
FOLLOWING JESUS.
WRITE DOWN TWO
CHARACTERISTICS
THAT WOULD
DESCRIBE YOUR LIFE
AT THAT POINT.

SHORT TRANSITION

DESCRIBES HOW YOU
BEGAN FOLLOWING
JESUS. IT CAN BE AS
SIMPLE AS:
“THEN ONE DAY SOME

50. WHAT OPTIONS OR OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE, FOR YOU TO INTENTIONALLY MAKE FRIENDSHIPS WITH
PEOPLE THAT MAY BE SPIRITUALLY SEEKING?
COULD YOU DO SOME WORK ON WRITING OUT ‘YOUR STORY’ ,THAT COULD BE SHARED IN 30 SECONDS?
WHAT STEPS COULD YOU POSSIBLY TAKE, TO CREATE “SPACES” WHERE SOME OF THESE NON-CHRISTIAN
FRIENDSHIPS CAN MEET WITH A FEW OTHER CHRISTIANS IN A WAY THAT WORKS FOR BOTH?
WHAT STEPS DO YOU NEED TO TAKE IN EXPLORING DOING SOMETHING NEW, FROM WHAT WE ARE LEARNING?
ARE THERE OTHER GOALS OR STEPS YOU FEEL YOU NEED TO TAKE?

69. THE WORD “CHURCH” IS USED IN
THREE WAYS IN THE BIBLE:
1. The universal church [Matthew 16:18]
2. The city or regional church
[Revelation 3:1]
3. The church meeting in someone’s
home [Acts 5:42; Colossians 4:15]
73. DISCOVERY BIBLE STUDY
“THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO THE APOSTLES’ TEACHING AND TO FELLOWSHIP, TO THE
BREAKING OF BREAD AND TO PRAYER. EVERYONE WAS FILLED WITH AWE AT THE MANY
WONDERS AND SIGNS PERFORMED BY THE APOSTLES. ALL THE BELIEVERS WERE TOGETHER
AND HAD EVERYTHING IN COMMON. THEY SOLD PROPERTY AND POSSESSIONS TO GIVE TO
ANYONE WHO HAD NEED. EVERY DAY THEY CONTINUED TO MEET TOGETHER IN THE TEMPLE
COURTS. THEY BROKE BREAD IN THEIR HOMES AND ATE TOGETHER WITH GLAD AND SINCERE
HEARTS, PRAISING GOD AND ENJOYING THE FAVOUR OF ALL THE PEOPLE. AND THE LORD ADDED
TO THEIR NUMBER DAILY THOSE WHO WERE BEING SAVED.” (ACTS 2:42-47)
1.WHAT DO YOU LIKE?
2.WHAT IS CHALLENGING?
3.WHAT DOES IT TELL US ABOUT GOD?
4.WHAT DOES IT TELL US ABOUT PEOPLE? (OR SPECIFICALLY CHURCH?)
74. DISCOVERY BIBLE STUDY
“THEY SPENT THEIR TIME LEARNING FROM THE APOSTLES, AND THEY WERE LIKE FAMILY TO
EACH OTHER. THEY ALSO BROKE BREAD AND PRAYED TOGETHER.
EVERYONE WAS AMAZED BY THE MANY MIRACLES AND WONDERS THAT THE APOSTLES
WORKED. ALL THE LORD’S FOLLOWERS OFTEN MET TOGETHER, AND THEY SHARED EVERYTHING
THEY HAD. THEY WOULD SELL THEIR PROPERTY AND POSSESSIONS AND GIVE THE MONEY TO
WHOEVER NEEDED IT.
DAY AFTER DAY THEY MET TOGETHER IN THE TEMPLE. THEY BROKE BREAD TOGETHER IN
DIFFERENT HOMES AND SHARED THEIR FOOD HAPPILY AND FREELY, WHILE PRAISING GOD.
EVERYONE LIKED THEM, AND EACH DAY THE LORD ADDED TO THEIR GROUPS OTHERS WHO
WERE BEING RESCUED.” (ACTS 2:42-47)

3.WHAT DOES IT TELL US ABOUT GOD?
4.WHAT DOES IT TELL US ABOUT PEOPLE? (OR SPECIFICALLY CHURCH?)
75. Multiplication
• It is God’s work
• Am I a disciple worth multiplying?
• Simple things multiply more easily
• Every believer needs to know the basics
76. Multiplication
• 2 Tim 2:2 – “And the things you have heard me
say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to
reliable people who will also be qualified to teach
others.”
85. WHAT IS YOUR VISION?
