(Slide 1) Well as you probably all know, the 40th
annual National Sports
Collectors Conventionbegins next week at the DonaldE Stephens Convention
Center inRosemont, IL, just outside Chicago. Here’s alook at all the goings on.
(Slide 2) Things kick-off withthe National VIP party on Wednesday. This year’s
sponsor is Pristine Auctions. The event includes freefoodand free autograph
signers from3 to 4pm. (Slide 3) This year’s free signers are Bill Cartwright, Drew
Pearsonand Ryan Klesko. (Slide 4) VIP ticket holders are alsoinvitedtoattenda
panel discussiononthe Future of Trading Cards with Gary Vaynerchuck and Josh
Luber at 2pm.
(Slide 5) PSA once again has a bunch of fun activitiesgoing onat this year’s
show. (Slide 6) To start, PSA is hosting a “Jordan a Day” daily sweepstakes and
will be giving away a trioof 1986 FleerMichael Jordanrookie cards, one per
day, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The three different PSA-graded cards are
an 8 an 8.5 and a 9 and will be randomly awarded. Sweepstakes entries canbe
made in personat the PSA booth (#1436) or online at
www.PSAcard.com/National. Winners neednot be present andwill be
announced at 4 p.m. CDT at the PSA booth during each of the three designated
days.
(Slide 7) Show goers withthe opportunity totake home personal, encapsulated
trading cards in special PSA-labeledholders. This time around, the cards –
sponsoredby Love of the Game Auctions –will feature a tobacco card twist!
Visit the PSA booth tobe featuredon your very own T206 trading card. As
always, the card is 100% FREEtoall PSA booth visitors!
(Slide 8) In addition, PSA has produced a, limited-editionsetof five “2019 NSCC
Promo” cards that features baseball legendsTy Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy
Mathewson, Nap Lajoie and “Shoeless Joe”Jackson. Exclusively distributedat
the National, the complete set of all five promo cards will be givento newPSA
PlatinumCollectors Clubmembers. NewPSA GoldCollectors Clubmembers will
be randomly awarded one of the five promo cards. The promo card set is being
sponsoredby Mile HighCard Company.
(Slide 9) And, for the first time ever, PSA is hosting a“National Card Grading
Competition”at this year’s National. The contest is opento77 contestants and
will be heldat PSA’s corporate booth withthe overall winner walking away with
a $1,000 check!The entry fee is $20 and each participant will have 15 minutes
to grade 25 encapsulatedvintage andmodern trading cards. To signup, visit
PSA’s National CardGrading landing page. The winner will be announced on
Sat., Aug. 3, at 4 p.m. CDT at the PSA booth.
(Slide 10) Beckett has some funstuff going on as well. (Slide 11) Beckett will
host its now annual party once again on the Thursday night of the National.
Beckett Night at the Ballpark featuresanall you can eat buffet, 100’s of prizes,
attendee goodie bags and a special autographsigning and meet and greet with
1983 AL Rookie of the Year winner RonKittle.
(Slide 12) In addition, Beckett will once againbe hosting its popular Beckett
Cover Card Scavenger Hunt Contest. Eachday, a set number of collectors who
are the first tofindeach of the various cards locatedat various locations around
the conventioncenter will wina blind-wrapped8x10 autograph. Be sure tovisit

(Slide 13) Also, onSunday, Rick Harrisonof the hit TV show, Pawn Stars will be
on hand to meet fans but more importantly tooffer you cashfor your
memorabiliaitems.
(Slide 14) Be sure tostopby the Wax Pack Nationboothto grab a free t-shirt
while supplies last and (Slide 15) tomeet the famed card artist TimCarroll who
will be on hand working on one of his masterpieces.
(Slide 16) After atremendous successlast year, the National, inpartnershipwith
Handbid Auctions will bring one lucky family staying at the RonaldMcDonald
House to this year’s show. Handbid is currently running acharity auction and
will be on hand for attendees toviewandbid on items. All proceeds goto
benefit the RonaldMcDonaldHouse.
(Slide 17) COMC – formerly known as Check Out My Cards will be on hand with
several promotional opportunities. (Slide18) Stopby their boothin the
corporate paviliontospin the prize wheel. They will alsobe accepting
submissions, explaining howthe service works andproviding discountedshow
specials. Visit the COMC blog for more details. (Slide 19) Inaddition, the folks at
COMC have partneredwithInstagramuser CardCollector2 tohost anexclusive
trade night. You must be an Instagramuser toattendso be sure tofollow either

(Slide 20) Our friends at Signatures for Soldiers will be onhand selling
autographeditems withall proceeds going to helpdisable veterans throughthe
charitable work of Military Missions inAction. Be sure tostopby their booth.
They will be set up in the Ripping Wax Case Break Pavilion. They will alsobe
accepting donations of unusedVIP autograph tickets andunopenedpacks tobe
includedin 9,000 care packages being sent toactive duty military personnel
serving overseas.
(Slide 21) Needsupplies, UltraPRO has you covered. (Slide 22) Check out them
out at booth#870 where they will be offering a tonof freebies while supplies
last including the cool dual tool card gauges, the Vladimir GuerreroJr. Beckett
cover card and samples of UltraPRO’s new PlatinumSports Sleeves. They will
also be hosting an all-day raffle for a variety of supplies. Andevery afternoon
they will host a raffle for signedmemorabiliaitems. (Slide 23) Inaddition, they
will host 2 Daily Breaks facilitatedby Joel Richfordof Loot Locker. 10-12 kids can
participate ineachbreak where they’ll receive cards, accessories, anda “My
First Break”breaker mat.
(Slide 24) During the five-day convention, anestimated35,000 autographs from
about 130 athletes and celebrities will be signedfor the public. Houston-based
TRISTAR Productions will once again be hosting the AutographPavilion that will
encompass close to40,000 square-feet.
(Slide 25) TRISTAR Vice-President Bobby Mintz toldSports Collectors Digest that
about 2,500 Sharpies, mostly blue, will be used, along with500 ballpoint pens
(for baseballs). TRISTAR officials saidabout 10,000 photos will be signed, along
with15,000 baseballs and5,000 footballs.
(Slide 26) In additionto hosting the autographpavilion, TRISTAR CEO and
founder Jeff Rosenberg will be onhand withCASH to purchase your
autographedmemorabiliaitems. Also, youmay remember that earlier this year,
TRISTAR purchasedthe massive signedbaseball collectionof PSA lead
authenticator KevinKeating. The entire collectionwill be ondisplay and
available for purchase.
(Slide 27) Collectors willhave the chance to holda bat once usedby Lou Gehrig.
It is part of a Memory Lane exhibit featuring dozensof items fromthe life and
career of the baseball icon. Nearly 50 Hall of Fame-worthy items fromGehrig’s
life and Hall of Fame career will be on exhibit at Memory Lane’s booth(#1108,
just inside the main entrance). Eachday from 10 AM to12 PM, attendees will
have an opportunity tohold a photo-matchedGehrig game model bat from the
early 1930s that’s part of the collection.
(Slide 28) The SGC MuseumDisplay at the 2019 National Sports Collectors
Conventionwill feature anever-before-seenexhibit withatrioof historic Cubs
jerseys!SGC promises you’ll see something youhave never seenbefore, and
may never again—a collectionof game-wornjerseys of that (Slide 29) “trioof
bear cubs - Tinker, Evers, and Chance!This beyond rare grouping of early 20th
century game-wornCubs uniforms was acquiredin the past year througha
private transactionby a collector whohas loanedthem tothe exhibit. (Slide 30)
SGC Uniform Authenticator Dave Grobremarked:“If I had previously not had
the honor and pleasure of examining these jerseys, I wouldbe making a special
tripjust to see themand bask in their history andsignificance.”The SGC
MuseumDisplay will be locatedat booth#824.
(Slide 31) The Baseball CardKing and BCWSupplies are providing a Free Sleeves
and Toploaders Stationat the 2019 National Sports Collectors Conventionat
booth 646. While supplies last, freesleeves andtoploaders for 2.5”x 3.5”
standardand thick cards will be available for the special NSCC cards that
collectors acquire at the show. Additional supplies for other cards and
memorabiliawill be for sale from The Baseball CardKing at booth 646. Please

(Slide 32) Ebay will again be a corporate sponsor and providing attendees awide
range of activities. (Slide 33) Stopby their boothtomeet one-on-one witha
representativewhocan answer any questions youhave about their sports
collectibles marketplace. They will alsobe hosting multiple raffles withseveral
different ways toenter.
Plus don’t miss the chance to score a $50 ebay Gift Card whichwill be raffledof

(Slide 34) Also, inpartnership withSportsmemorabilia, there will be 25, 2019

The Mike Berkus MainStage inthe (Slide 35) Ripping Wax Case Break Pavilion
will be a flurry of activity as your humble hosts provide entertainment and
content throughout the show. (Slide 36) As you can see, the pavilionis located
near the PSA booth on the left and to the right is the Tristar merchandise booth
and just past that out of frame is the autograph pavilion. Also, you can see that
Signatures for Soldiers is right there inthe middle of the traffic patterninbooth
1200.

Stage. Here’s aday-by-day look at what’s happening.

Michael Osacky. He runs these various hobby entities under the umbrellaof
Baseball inthe Attic. Michael will discuss tips onmemorabiliaappraisal, pitfalls
to avoid inauthenticationand more.
(Slide 42) This will be followedat 11am witha near case break of Onyx Vintage
Collection Baseball withowner andfounder Lance Fischer. Spots are free, just
come by and grab a raffle ticket.
(Slide 43) Thenbe sure tostick around when Gary Vee takes the stage to talk
about being the subject of a trading card, his impressions of being a first timer
at the National and his take on the current state of the hobby and where it goes
from here.
(Slide 44) The never at a loss for words, KevinHeffner of Historic Autographs
hits the stage at 2pm and we can only guess what he has in store for attendees.

(Slide 72) Many sports fans know the great work of artist Graig Kreindler. He has
workedwithTopps this year on the 150 Years of Baseball set, exclusively sold
on Topps.com. His artwork has featuredmany of the most iconic players
throughout baseball history. Kreinder will be signing prints includedas a gift-
with-purchase for the 150thAnniversary setbeing soldat the NSCC. There is a
maximum of three autographs per person. Visit Graig on Thursday from 2-3 pm.
(Slide 73) And, Meet MasterChef Graham Elliot - As a big baseball card
collector, GrahamElliot was the perfect persontobe featuredin 2019 Topps
Allen& Ginter. Nowmeet the master chef at the Topps booth where he will sign
specially made cards for the show. That will be Saturday from 2:30-3:30.
(Slide 74) Also -For the last several years, Topps has helda question-and-answer
sessionwithits executives. Collectors cancome to the event, ask their burning
questions while foodand drinks are being served. Prizesare usually givenaway
as well. Signup at the Topps booth because there is a limitedamount of seats
available for the Thursday event whichruns from 5:30-7:30 pm.

in the company’s corporate booth. Kids should stopby to meet the Kidority Kards
crew who will be handing out free Upper Deck cards and goodies for fans in
attendance. Kidority Kards is a charity focusedon sharing the hobby withthe next
generationof collectors. They will be accepting Upper Deck cards at the booth to
repackage for kids they work withand accepting donations to helpthemwith

place for this year’s show. (Slide 88) Dingers andDunks is a premiumbuyback

ink as rare as 1/1. There will be less than200 boxes made for this one and they
will include today's stars, Hall of Famers, toprookies, rookie patchautos, sets,
parallels andeven1/1 Fed League art cards.
(Slide 89) The rewards program is simple. Stopby the Historic Autographs booth,
view and reserve one of the 13 cards available. Go purchase the qualifying
amount of product on the show floor, bring back tothe HA booth and pick-up
your card. Cards will be reservedfor 1 hour.
(Slide 90) If you are thinking of or have already purchaseda VIP ticket for the
National here’s some of the goodies you can expect tofind inyour bag.

2019 National Sports Collectors Convention Preview Transcript

  • 1. (Slide 1) Well as you probably all know, the 40th annual National Sports Collectors Conventionbegins next week at the DonaldE Stephens Convention Center inRosemont, IL, just outside Chicago. Here’s alook at all the goings on. (Slide 2) Things kick-off withthe National VIP party on Wednesday. This year’s sponsor is Pristine Auctions. The event includes freefoodand free autograph signers from3 to 4pm. (Slide 3) This year’s free signers are Bill Cartwright, Drew Pearsonand Ryan Klesko. (Slide 4) VIP ticket holders are alsoinvitedtoattenda panel discussiononthe Future of Trading Cards with Gary Vaynerchuck and Josh Luber at 2pm. (Slide 5) PSA once again has a bunch of fun activitiesgoing onat this year’s show. (Slide 6) To start, PSA is hosting a “Jordan a Day” daily sweepstakes and will be giving away a trioof 1986 FleerMichael Jordanrookie cards, one per day, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The three different PSA-graded cards are an 8 an 8.5 and a 9 and will be randomly awarded. Sweepstakes entries canbe made in personat the PSA booth (#1436) or online at www.PSAcard.com/National. Winners neednot be present andwill be announced at 4 p.m. CDT at the PSA booth during each of the three designated days. (Slide 7) Show goers withthe opportunity totake home personal, encapsulated trading cards in special PSA-labeledholders. This time around, the cards – sponsoredby Love of the Game Auctions –will feature a tobacco card twist! Visit the PSA booth tobe featuredon your very own T206 trading card. As always, the card is 100% FREEtoall PSA booth visitors! (Slide 8) In addition, PSA has produced a, limited-editionsetof five “2019 NSCC Promo” cards that features baseball legendsTy Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, Nap Lajoie and “Shoeless Joe”Jackson. Exclusively distributedat the National, the complete set of all five promo cards will be givento newPSA PlatinumCollectors Clubmembers. NewPSA GoldCollectors Clubmembers will be randomly awarded one of the five promo cards. The promo card set is being sponsoredby Mile HighCard Company. (Slide 9) And, for the first time ever, PSA is hosting a“National Card Grading Competition”at this year’s National. The contest is opento77 contestants and will be heldat PSA’s corporate booth withthe overall winner walking away with a $1,000 check!The entry fee is $20 and each participant will have 15 minutes to grade 25 encapsulatedvintage andmodern trading cards. To signup, visit PSA’s National CardGrading landing page. The winner will be announced on Sat., Aug. 3, at 4 p.m. CDT at the PSA booth. (Slide 10) Beckett has some funstuff going on as well. (Slide 11) Beckett will host its now annual party once again on the Thursday night of the National.

Beckett Night at the Ballpark featuresanall you can eat buffet, 100’s of prizes, attendee goodie bags and a special autographsigning and meet and greet with 1983 AL Rookie of the Year winner RonKittle. (Slide 12) In addition, Beckett will once againbe hosting its popular Beckett Cover Card Scavenger Hunt Contest. Eachday, a set number of collectors who are the first tofindeach of the various cards locatedat various locations around the conventioncenter will wina blind-wrapped8x10 autograph. Be sure tovisit the Beckett Boothfor more details andthe complete cover card checklist. (Slide 13) Also, onSunday, Rick Harrisonof the hit TV show, Pawn Stars will be on hand to meet fans but more importantly tooffer you cashfor your memorabiliaitems. (Slide 14) Be sure tostopby the Wax Pack Nationboothto grab a free t-shirt while supplies last and (Slide 15) tomeet the famed card artist TimCarroll who will be on hand working on one of his masterpieces. (Slide 16) After atremendous successlast year, the National, inpartnershipwith Handbid Auctions will bring one lucky family staying at the RonaldMcDonald House to this year’s show. Handbid is currently running acharity auction and will be on hand for attendees toviewandbid on items. All proceeds goto benefit the RonaldMcDonaldHouse. (Slide 17) COMC – formerly known as Check Out My Cards will be on hand with several promotional opportunities. (Slide18) Stopby their boothin the corporate paviliontospin the prize wheel. They will alsobe accepting submissions, explaining howthe service works andproviding discountedshow specials. Visit the COMC blog for more details. (Slide 19) Inaddition, the folks at COMC have partneredwithInstagramuser CardCollector2 tohost anexclusive trade night. They will alsobe accepting donations of unusedVIP autograph tickets andunopenedpacks tobe includedin 9,000 care packages being sent toactive duty military personnel serving overseas. (Slide 23) Inaddition, they will host 2 Daily Breaks facilitatedby Joel Richfordof Loot Locker. 10-12 kids can participate ineachbreak where they’ll receive cards, accessories, anda “My First Break”breaker mat. (Slide 24) During the five-day convention, anestimated35,000 autographs from about 130 athletes and celebrities will be signedfor the public. Houston-based TRISTAR Productions will once again be hosting the AutographPavilion that will encompass close to40,000 square-feet. (Slide 25) TRISTAR Vice-President Bobby Mintz toldSports Collectors Digest that about 2,500 Sharpies, mostly blue, will be used, along with500 ballpoint pens (for baseballs). TRISTAR officials saidabout 10,000 photos will be signed, along with15,000 baseballs and5,000 footballs. (Slide 26) In additionto hosting the autographpavilion, TRISTAR CEO and founder Jeff Rosenberg will be onhand withCASH to purchase your autographedmemorabiliaitems. Also, youmay remember that earlier this year, TRISTAR purchasedthe massive signedbaseball collectionof PSA lead authenticator KevinKeating. The entire collectionwill be ondisplay and available for purchase. (Slide 27) Collectors willhave the chance to holda bat once usedby Lou Gehrig. It is part of a Memory Lane exhibit featuring dozensof items fromthe life and career of the baseball icon. Nearly 50 Hall of Fame-worthy items fromGehrig’s life and Hall of Fame career will be on exhibit at Memory Lane’s booth(#1108, just inside the main entrance). Eachday from 10 AM to12 PM, attendees will have an opportunity tohold a photo-matchedGehrig game model bat from the early 1930s that’s part of the collection. (Slide 28) The SGC MuseumDisplay at the 2019 National Sports Collectors Conventionwill feature anever-before-seenexhibit withatrioof historic Cubs jerseys!SGC promises you’ll see something youhave never seenbefore, and may never again—a collectionof game-wornjerseys of that (Slide 29) “trioof bear cubs - Tinker, Evers, and Chance!This beyond rare grouping of early 20th century game-wornCubs uniforms was acquiredin the past year througha private transactionby a collector whohas loanedthem tothe exhibit. (Slide 30) SGC Uniform Authenticator Dave Grobremarked:“If I had previously not had the honor and pleasure of examining these jerseys, I wouldbe making a special tripjust to see themand bask in their history andsignificance.”The SGC MuseumDisplay will be locatedat booth#824. (Slide 31) The Baseball CardKing and BCWSupplies are providing a Free Sleeves and Toploaders Stationat the 2019 National Sports Collectors Conventionat booth 646. While supplies last, freesleeves andtoploaders for 2.5”x 3.5”

(Slide 32) Ebay will again be a corporate sponsor and providing attendees awide range of activities. (Slide 33) Stopby their boothtomeet one-on-one witha representativewhocan answer any questions youhave about their sports collectibles marketplace. They will alsobe hosting multiple raffles withseveral different ways toenter. Plus don’t miss the chance to score a $50 ebay Gift Card whichwill be raffledof Thursday through Sunday four times a day withactual times TBD. (Slide 34) Also, inpartnership withSportsmemorabilia, there will be 25, 2019 Topps Baseball Factory Sets upfor grabs via raffle as well. The Mike Berkus MainStage inthe (Slide 35) Ripping Wax Case Break Pavilion will be a flurry of activity as your humble hosts provide entertainment and content throughout the show. (Slide 36) As you can see, the pavilionis located near the PSA booth on the left and to the right is the Tristar merchandise booth and just past that out of frame is the autograph pavilion. Also, you can see that Signatures for Soldiers is right there inthe middle of the traffic patterninbooth 1200. (Slide 37) Several eventsare scheduledtotake place at the Mike Berkus Main Stage. Here’s aday-by-day look at what’s happening. (Slide 38) The Wednesday sneak peak, sponsoredby Memory Lane, kicks off withan on stage signing with (Slide 39) Dallas Cowboys great, DrewPearson that will thenbe immediately followedby the (Slide 40) Topps VIP case break. Could it be a Chrome Jumbo case? Come findout. The first full day of the show, starting at 10am, (Slide 41) we will sit down with sports memorabiliaappraiser, vintage collector, dealer andnotedwriter Michael Osacky. He runs these various hobby entities under the umbrellaof Baseball inthe Attic. Michael will discuss tips onmemorabiliaappraisal, pitfalls to avoid inauthenticationand more. (Slide 42) This will be followedat 11am witha near case break of Onyx Vintage Collection Baseball withowner andfounder Lance Fischer. Spots are free, just come by and grab a raffle ticket.

(Slide 43) Thenbe sure tostick around when Gary Vee takes the stage to talk about being the subject of a trading card, his impressions of being a first timer at the National and his take on the current state of the hobby and where it goes from here. (Slide 44) The never at a loss for words, KevinHeffner of Historic Autographs hits the stage at 2pm and we can only guess what he has in store for attendees. But, we can guarantee youit will be a must see event. (Slide 45) Andif all that wasn’t enough, Daryl McKay of Baseball Treasure stops by for a chat and will alsobe fulfilling aredemptionprogramfor the GTS Distributionexclusive, Baseball Treasure LimitedEdition.
