To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter to explain that Camilla Watson completed significant parts of two of my
graduate level courses at the Colorado School of Mines.
For Advanced Structural Geology (GEOL505; 3 credits) she completed three labs and a
midterm, and was heading towards an A grade based on the grades thus far. The midterm grade
is typically a significant predictor of students’ final grades. This particular semester, students
with a grade in the upper 80's percentile or higher ended up with an A grade in the course.
Camilla had 95%. Thus, she complete half the course in an excellent manner.
Camilla completed most of Structural Field Research (GEOL555; 4 credits), which consists of
three parts: (1) writing of a structural field research proposal, (2) carrying out the field work for
six days, and (3) completing geological maps, cross sections, structural analysis and writing of
the report. Camilla completed parts 1 and 2 and part of part 3. Because most of the grade is
based on part 3, it is difficult to predict what the final grade she was heading towards, but
probably A to A-, possibly B+. Camilla certainly performed highly on the field part, by taking
initiative and making accurate observations.
Overall Camilla is a quick learner, hard worker and a serious student. What she did for both
courses together, in addition to her previous experiences, gives her a solid background in
structural geology, structural analysis and field geology. Please do not hesitate to contact me
should you have any questions.
Yours Sincerely,
Yvette D. Kuiper, Assistant Professor
