Italy's green and hidden heart nestles in a setting of unsurpassed beauty at the centre of the Italian peninsula. Fortified ancient hilltowns cascade down mountain sides into a serene valley of quilted landscapes with vineyards, olive groves and wheat fields.
From a central and comfortable base which resonates with the region's heritage you can unpack once and wake gently to the sound of distant church bells, then finish each day under the pine trees in the garden sipping the intense local red Sagrantino wine.
With the hilltowns so close to each other we rarely travel more than half an hour to get anywhere which keeps the pace of excursions easy.
The 7 day itinerary explores an extraordinary wealth of history, art and some of the oldest architecture in Europe. The towns and villages offer a blend of art, history, food, wine, landscape and crafts that makes them worth a week of anyone's time. Guided visits are organised to impressive locations within the towns where Etruscan arches, Roman architecture and Renaissance frescoes form a fascinating collage.

Things to consider & recommendations:
• The program may be altered to accommodate group sizes, seasonal variations
and activities, including local festivals. However the essential content of the
itinerary will remain the same.
• B L D means that breakfast, lunch and/or dinner will be included that day.
• Shops are open from 9am to 1pm then again 4pm to 7pm
• Many shops are closed on Mondays
• Remember to take 3 hours for lunch every day ! The closing times; between
1pm & 4pm are strictly dedicated to lunch, so you may as well head home and
rest up like everyone else, unless you are sitting somewhere in a gorgeous
hilltown at a local restaurant.
• The passeggiata – from around 5pm in all towns the public get out onto the
streets and stroll around arm in arm, window shopping. It is a perfect opportunity
to blend in or sit in a café and watch the scenery.
