Training sessions took place
throughout the year to explain the key
skills of being an effective scrutineer.
This benefitted all new Councillors
from the 2015 Election

Each month Committee considered
reports being presented to the Cabinet
for a decision. This key element of the
decision making process is an
opportunity for the Committee to
challenge Cabinet if they do not agree
with their decision.

Overview and Scrutiny
• Continued to utilise the
Council’s corporate social
media channels
• Produced regular summary
slideshows ‘Scrutiny
Snippets’
• Utilising a twitter hashtag
#BDCOSC for relevant news
blasts.
Overview and Scrutiny is a member-
led function (they set the agenda).
However it also depends on the input
from partners, local organisations,
parish and town councils and its
residents.
Committee maintain their ambition to
communicate with residents in a
transparent way.
