1. My visit to Del Dotto winery was nothing short of an amazing experience. Brian Jones,
our wine educator, exceeded any expectations and previous experiences at other wineries.
I have been to many other wineries including V. Sattui, Patz & Hall, Pride Mountain,
Castello de Amoroso, and Hall, and the experience I had at Del Dotto is now at the top
for me.
Brian guided us through the Del Dotto caves to taste straight from the barrel. At every
point of the tasting, Brian offered great knowledge about the winery, vineyard, barrel,
and even explained the differences in vintages, which has always been confusing for me to
understand how the wine can change from year to year. Brian tasted us on some amazing
wines and made sure to always remind us to think about what we did and did not like
about the wine we just tasted, which many wineries don't do - they often just pour you the
wine, leave you alone, and then pour you the next one.
The experience Brian gave us on our tour encouraged us to not only enjoy the wine, but
to be cognizant of what we enjoyed and why, to truly experience the wine, not just to
drink it. He also made the experience very entertaining and while I don't live that far
away, I felt like I was on vacation.
Because of this experience that Brian gave us during my visit to Del Dotto, I have begun
to fully appreciate the wine for all the components that make it so great. I have since been
to Del Dotto a few more times and have always requested Brian to be my wine educator.
Thank you,
