To whom it may concern:
Training Toward Self Reliance, Inc. (TTSR) is a non-profit organization that supports
developmentally disabled adults. We offer several programs to assist individuals with disabilities
to access the community as well as educate them on core academics and skill building that can
be applied in life and social situations. TTSR has been serving the community for over 31 years
with a goal to increase independence for those with developmental disabilities. Each class
incorporates valuable life skills training and allows students to explore their creativity. Students
can choose from a variety of classes, some of which include: Math, Cooking, Physical Fitness,
Health and Relationships, Wood Shop, Sign Language, Theater and Music.
The Community Activity Support Services Day program (CASS) focuses on academics as well
as social and recreational classes. Focusing on good nutrition, health maintenance, child safety,
and rules and boundaries the Homemaker (personal attendant) and Parenting (one on one)
programs work with developmentally disabled parents, in their own homes, to teach them how to
provide a safe and healthy home for their children. The Independent Living Skills program (ILS)
provides the skills needed to live as independently as possible by teaching basic cooking skills,
cleaning habits, the importance of menu planning and meal preparation, shopping, money
management.
As the needs of the clients are constantly changing and our programs evolving to meet these
needs, the supplies that are required are also changing and evolving. In order to keep these
programs available to our clients we are requesting donations from our community. We are
accepting monetary and supply donation. Please contact 916-710-3163 for more information on
how to donate and what supplies we are in need of.
We appreciate your time and the dedication to our program. The donations will be helping those
with developmental disabilities and their families prepare for everyday activities that we take for
granted.
Thank you,
