2. WHO AREWE?
• This program focuses on issues that goes on in homes , specifically low-
income families. In these homes children are taught to stay shut and obey
their parents, the oldest loses their childhood raising their siblings. And
when the child tries to defend themselves is seen as disrespect and are
left feeling not good enough. Toxic home behavior has been accepted and
the more I speak to younger groups of kids they all have something in
common, living in a place where they do not feel loved. They are mentally
checked out and do not want to go home at the end of every day and
those who are home fantasize about the day they finally move out.
• This organization will be based in New York for children who struggle
living in toxic households. When kids and even young teens visit our place
or reach out to us they know that this place is far different from what goes
on in their homes. This is a safe haven for those who feel they have
nobody to turn to and get help
• Our mission is to ensure that these children that come into our program
struggling with metal health, lack strength and feeling of being trapped
leave every time with strength within themselves, goals for their future
and with the headspace to not tolerate what is thrown at them. We want
to break a cycle that continues to hurt our children, we need them to
grow up happy within themselves. Our children are our future but we
can’t have a future without children.
3. FACTORSAFFECTINGCLIENTS
“Far From Home” will be opened up in my community in Far Rockaway New York, in order for me to know the
strengths of this program in my community I think I will go and start handing out surveys and stopping people in the
area to question them .
• The location where it is may be an issue if I put the location in a predominantly white location may cause a
problem since it’s for minorities it can cause a social conflict and they might want us to move.
• Economically that money would have to stretch to hire mental health advocates rather than certified therapists
since I probably won’t have much money to pay them.
• Economically that money would have to stretch to hire mental health advocates rather than certified therapists
since I probably won’t have much money to pay them.
• The fact that the center will be free for children might upset the parents because they won’t have to ask their
parent for permission , they can just walk in and get help.
• The name itself might be an issue , because if a parent is walking by with their child and see that the name is “
Far From Home” the child may bring up its for kids who need a safe space to be themselves, the parent might
think that their child does not need that and not allow them to come in.
• This can also create friction between parents and me as the owner because they might be afraid
we are connected to ACS and their child might have something to say of what goes on in their
homes
Some measurable objectives that can help me reach my goal is the amount of people I will have in my team to
ensure these kids get the best help possible. Also the feed back I get from the children around the neighborhoods
would help me figure out if this is the right program for this specific community too.
4. CULTURAL DIVERSITY
• The fact that my location is diverse it can go both
ways , there is racism in my area so just by that I
know the end of rockaway locals won’t want to
help with anything like this but the other end just
might want to see their kids happy and want to
listen and be a part of this. I also know we have a
local Teen Work force in the area that might be
interested in something like this.
• The main goal for “ Far From Home” is to give
these kids a safe space to be themselves without
having to deal with narcissistic family members
putting them down. This organization will help the
children find jobs, help with school work , and
teach them every day basics that they are
missing out on like financial literacy and more.
5. ORANIZATIONAL AND
DESIGN
The theory that should be used is Functional
organizational structure. The idea of this theory is to
organize workers based on their own specific knowledge
and skills. Each department has their own roles, id have a
department for administration because we need someone
in charge of the check-ins and keep count of the kids-
teens we have involved in our program.
The way to make sure that work between groups get
effectively coordinated is by scheduling and ensuring they
all have the right amount of work split between them but
of course only work that they are capable of doing.
I think coordinating work between groups is something
that can easily be done. Then we can have the head of
the recreational department split it up but evenly. The best
way is to split it by what each person is good at , and
open communication is needed too to make sure that
everyone is happy and comfortable with the part they play.
JOBS: Job Description :

for employees
6. BUDGETING

Nutritional department 37,000
Trip Coordinator 32,000
HR Department/Funding Coordinator 80,000

7. PROGRAM EVALUATION
The way id measure accomplishments of objectives is by defining my organizations goals , and my
employees objectives. Continuous monitoring performance and progress will be written and then
uploaded onto drive folders for each employee . This is evidence based that will help see
improvements , this can help with other goals I have for my organization ensuring that the created
programs are actually doing something for the community and changing the lives of these children
also have the team have folders for each of the children in the programs and there should be
informational notes that can help us decide if the program is even helpful in anyway. If it is not this
helps us cut off programs that may be too expensive to keep up. We will have documentation of
everything , paper trails keep us on track and are easy to look back to.
The way we are going to communicate is by zoom calls on busy days, every Friday we regroup
and this is where the team can give us feedback and or give us any concerns or other things
they’d like to share. We will also be communicating through emails and work in groups so each
department will have a group chat that will be monitored. Id also would like feedback from the
kids that are there and if there is anything they’d like to see happening we can make it happen.
