Cyberbullying is a crime it don't matter if you are Black or White, young or old, boy of girl. This crime is killing us and we are not saying anything, please it is time we start making our voices heard.
2. What is cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is the manipulation of a device like a laptop, cell phone,
tablet, etc. to discredit, hurt, take advantage of even lie on someone. This is
done online and publicly for others to see and share.
The reason it is called Cyberbullying and not Bullying is because bullying is
an action done in person to someone or a group, while cyberbullying is the
action of bullying but is done online and most time anonymously.
4. Who are affected by Cyberbullying?
Many people believe cyberbullying is something that affects teenagers only. That
is not true, anyone at any age can be a victim to this horrible crime. Not only the
victims of cyberbullying are affected but the people who care for the victims
[friends and family].
These nasty post can hunt a person for a lifetime. We hear of teenagers
committing suicide all the time. Yet we don’t speck on how our young adults are
handling the pressure of cyberbullying. Our young adults are dying, depress,
anger, scared, lost because we don’t see them as a victim. Society calls them
fools and losers.
5. The results of being Cyberbullied
A person can feel a thousand things at once when being cyberbullied. Something
as simple as tear drops helps to easy the pain and heartache of being
cyberbullied. Locking one’s self away, deleting all social media, start self
medicating, start cutting one’s self are just a few coping mechanisms victims of
cyberbullying use to get through life. There is a long list as to how one can cope
after or while being cyberbullied. Some of the more drastic method are suicide
and mass killing. Mass kill can be a result of the victim having enough of being
cyberbully, which makes them[the victim] want to make their bullies pay for all
they did and said to him/her. When trying to carry out this act of revenge a few
bystanders maybe caught in the cross fire.
6. Let me tell you a story about myself and the
experience I had being cyberbullied
7. Three years ago I started a Spanish class for beginners. The teacher was pleasant and
patient with us. Most of the class was always restless and did everything expect what the
teacher said. After the year was over an award was being presented to the best student for
behaviour and academic. I was awarded this First Year Spanish Award. A few days later
everyone was watching me and talking, some asking how could I and other I knew she was
always a teachers pet. I was hurt by the words but mostly by the persons saying these
things to me. A friend showed the post of Facebook where a classmate said, “It is so heart
breaking when you work hard for something and someone come and take it all from you.
The Spanish Award was to be mines but a thief stole it from me. I will never forgive you
because you don’t deserve that award thief.” I felt ashamed of receiving the award I worked
hard for myself. With everyone watching me and talking be hide my back also posting
hurtful things on the internet, I made a decision to ask the teacher if she made a mistake
and give the award to me. “NO!, you worked hard for it and she did not give me respect
nor did my work so please don’t listen to them,” the teacher told me. Due to the post that
follow I lose interest in everything, I never open a Facebook account and I questioned my
ability to work hard and accomplish things for a year.
