Mathers Foundry Integrated QMS.
Mathers Foundry is a leading supplier of quality steel castings to companies involved in the manufacture of
pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, filtration, flow measurement equipment and general engineering
components. These companies supply equipment for major projects throughout the world in industries
including oil and gas, nuclear, paper, rubber, chemical and power generation.
Over the past 5 years the level of process validation & certification of cast components has increased
significantly, particularly in the Nuclear, Oil & Gas sectors. In response to this, Mathers Foundry has
completed the implementation of the QuAC (Quality Assurance & Control) integrated management system
which now controls all Metallurgical, Non-Destructive Testing, Heat Treatment & Welding Procedures and
is used to generate an order line specific quality plan for all purchase orders.
The principles behind the system are relatively
simple; capture all customer requirements at
point of order, log in a centralised database
and cascade the information through the
business automatically. Now that the QuAC
system has been combined with the Mathers
Foundry Production System, the business has
plans to initiate a casting barcode system to
enable live reporting of casting progress which
provides automatic customer updates on
request.

to our customers, the quality department has used the time saved to lead improvement projects across the
