Data from the annual HSS fall survey (fall 2013, fall 2014):
Study Abroad
2014 HSS Seniors who participated in study abroad: 15.3%
2015 HSS Seniors who participated in study abroad: 36.4%
Internships
2014 HSS Seniors who held a credit-bearing internship: 36.4%
2015 HSS Seniors who held a credit-bearing internship: 47.7%
Undergraduate Research
2014 HSS Seniors who participated in undergraduate research: 19.5%
2015 HSS Seniors who participated in undergraduate research: 46%
Experiential Learning
2014 HSS Seniors who participated in other experiential learning (e.g., courses meeting
in a prison with inmate-classmates or courses held in the Trenton archives, etc.): 19.5%
2015 HSS Seniors who participated in other experiential learning courses: 29.5%
Data from the Bonner Institute on Community Engaged Learning
above the freshman level experience:
In calendar year 2013 (Spring 2013 + Fall 2013)
144 HSS students participated in 9 community-engaged learning courses
in 5 different departments in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
In calendar year 2014 (Spring 2014 + Fall 2014)
228 HSS students participated in 14 community-engaged learning courses
in 7 different departments in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
This represents a 58% increase in community-engaged learning participation in HSS.
