7. HEAT MAP DATA VISUALIZATION
Large scale display (25ft x 12ft projection/video wall) that depicts a map of Austin, TX documenting the
real-time microcosm that is SXSWi + Music through a heat map visualization of geo-located FourSquare
check-ins, Instagram locales, tweets, Facebook check-ins, etc. Experientially connects visitors to the real life
microcosm as it’s happening.
3D PRINTERS ASSEMBLE THE BASE PYRAMID
A collection of MakerBot 3D printers will interpret and segment real-time data into 4 “primetimes” or
threshold levels of incredible activity (FourSquare swarms, popular Instagram / Twitter hashtags in a certain
locale, Facebook check-ins, etc.) and print out an associated 3D object, sized based on threshold level.
Generated objects will be labeled, marking the point in time, event location, and hashtag / event information
they respectively represent. These objects will then work together to assemble a physical structure that is the
Base Pyramid, over the course of SXSWi + Music, resulting in a permanent installation representing the
microcosm that is SXSW.
