2. TYPES OF LEAVES
• There are two different types of leaves – simples leaves and
compound leaves. The other types of leaves include acicular, linear,
lanceolate, orbicular, elliptical, oblique, centric cordate, etc.
1. Linear leaves includes broad leaves that are generally long and narrow, with parallel sides and rounded ends.
2. Lanceolate refers to a leaf, sepal, petal, or other flat structure that is wider at the base than at the midpoint, tapers toward the a
pex, and has a length-to-width ratio of 3:1 or more.
3. Orbicular leaves are circular, or almost circular, in shape. Some examples of plants with orbicular leaves are the Arrowwood Vi
burnum, the Cranberry Cotoneaster, and the Quaking Aspen.
4. Definitions of elliptic leaf. a simple leaf shaped like an ellipse.
5. Oblique Leaf Base. Unequal leaf bases, slanting, one side larger, wider or rounder than the other.
6. Definitions of cordate leaf. a heart-shaped leaf.
