Experiments were carried out on tubular solar still in Allahabad climate conditions. Energy storage medium is used in still to produce distillate in the off sunshine hours .A correlation is developed for the productivity of a still using experimental results .The proposed correlation has been validated with the experimental results .The regression coefficient approaches to unity and the correlation may be perfect positive with least error .

The field of thermoelectrics has been growing steadily due to its ability to convert heat directly into electricity and to develop cost effective, pollution free forms of energy conversion, aiming at efficiencies as high as possible. Low-dimensional structures have proved to be promising candidates for enhancing the thermoelectric properties of semiconductors. Here, we discuss the idea of implementation of dense arrays of armchair graphene nanoribbons in microfabricated structures to develop planar unileg thermoelectric microgenerators to convert heat fl ow into electrical energy. This paper is a discussion on energy scavenging to provide power autonomy to devices on a human body i.e., thermoelectric conversion of human heat and thereby summarizes the advantages of this material for commercial use because of its extra ordinary thermo electric performance.

Heat transfer is a discipline of thermal engineering that concern the generation, use, conversion and exchange of thermal energy, heat between physical systems. Heat transfer is classified in to various mechanisms such as heat conduction, convection, thermal radiation & transfer of energy by phase change. Most of the electronic equipment are low power and produce negligible amount of heat in their operation. Some devices, such as power transistors, CPU's, & power diodes produce a significant amount of heat. so sufficient measures are need to be taken so as to prolong their working life and reliability.

The Indirect Solar Water Heater System (SWHS) with Forced Circulation is modeled by proposing a theoretical dynamic multi-node model. The SWHS, which works with a 1,91 m2 PFC and 300 L storage tank, and it is equipped with available forced circulation scale system fitted with an automated subsystem that controlled hot water, is what the experimental setup consisted of. The system, which 100% heated water by only using solar energy. The experimental weather conditions are measured every one minute. The experiments validation steps were performed for two periods, the first one concern the cloudy days in December, the second for the sunny days in May; the average deviations between the predicted and the experimental values is 2 %, 5 % for the water temperature output and for the useful energy are 4 %, 9 % respectively for the both typical days, which is very satisfied. The thermal efficiency was determined experimentally and theoretically and shown to agree well with the EN12975 standard for the flow rate between 0,02 kg/s and 0,2kg/s.

Procedures and results of experimental work to find thermal stress analysis in electric discharge machined surfaces are presented. In this study, an axisymmetric thermo-physical FEA model for the simulation of single sparks machining during electrical discharge machining (EDM) process is shown. This model has been solved using ANSYS 14.0 software. A transient thermal analysis assuming a Gaussian distribution heat source with temperature-dependent material properties is used to investigate the stress analysis based on temperature distribution. The effect on significant machining parameters (Gap current – Gap voltage) on aforesaid responses had been investigated and found that the stresses sharply changes with the parameters [1]. The FEA model is used to study the relation between these parameters and maximum temperature attended at the end of cycle which is further used to find residual stress produced at the end of cooling cycle. To find residual stresses in the work piece during EDM, the temperature distribution at the end of pulse duration in the work piece has to be estimated [2] High residual thermal stresses are developed on the surfaces of electric discharge machined parts because of the high temperature gradients generated at the gap during electrical discharge machining (EDM) in a small heat-affected zone. These thermal stresses can be responsible for micro-cracks, decrease in fatigue life and strength and possibly catastrophic failure. The results of the analysis show high temperature gradient zones and the regions of large stresses where, sometimes, they exceed the material yield strength. A transient thermal analysis assuming a Gaussian distribution heat can be used to investigate the Stress analysis.

This paper deals with the comparative study of heat sink having fins with shield of various profiles namely Trapezoidal with curved and plane inclination and slope shield as heat sinks are the commonly used devices for enhancing heat transfer in electronic components. For the purpose of study heat sink is modeled by using the optimal geometric parameter such as fin height, fin thickness, base height, fin pitch as 48 mm, 1.6 mm, 8mm, 4mm and after that simulation is done at heat load of 75W and with a air velocity of 4.7171m/s and air inlet temperature is taken as 295 K. The simulation is carried out with a commercial package provided by fluent incorporation.

The aim of this work is to optimize the design and performance of solar powered γ Stirling engine based on genetic algorithm (GA). A second-order mathematical model which includes thermal losses coupled with genetic algorithm GA has been developed and used to find the best values for different design variables. The physical geometry of the γ Stirling engine has been used as an objective variable in the genetic algorithm GA to determine the optimal parameters. The design geometry of the heat exchanger was considered to be the objective variable. The heater slots height, heater effective length, cooler slots height, cooler effective length, re-generator foil unrolled length and re-generator effective length are assumed to be the objective variables. Also, three different types of working fluids have been used in the model simulation to investigate the effect of the different working fluid on the engine performance. The comparison between the results obtained from the simulation by using the original parameters and the results from the optimized parameters when the engine was powered by solar energy; the higher temperature was 923 K applied to the working fluid when the air, helium, and hydrogen were used as working fluid. The engine power increases from 140.58 watts to 228.54 watts, and it is enhanced by approximately 50%, when the heating temperature is 923 K and the air is used as working fluid. The result showed that the working temperature is one of the most important parameters; because the output power increases by increasing of the hot side temperature.

- The failure caused by fatigue has a majority of share in the industries. The recent trends and studies have shown that 85 to 90 % components fail not due to static loading but due to cyclic loadings and fluctuating conditions around. The most common and prominent being the thermal fatigue failure. Due to uneven temperature conditions the components under cyclic loading tend to show a decreased fatigue life as compared to the ideal conditions thus their probability of failure is quite high and sometimes dangerous too. There are many techniques which are used to identify the failure signs and take proper action but all these techniques require a physical and nondestructive testing of the component which is time consuming and not suitable for critical operation components also the temperature factor is not considered although it being the major affecting factor. This paper presents an approach to do the online temperature analysis of the conditions and predict the further failure conditions by analysing the thermal stresses caused and preventing the potential sudden failure of the component by using polynomial regression algorithm to predict the temperature conditions based on the initial conditions and correlating it to the magnitude of thermal stress induced and analyzing the failure possibility of the component

In this research the effect of input variables namely: discharge current, pulse duration on thermal stresses has been investigated. A finite element modelling for the EDM process and the effect of a single-pulse discharge has been presented and results concerning the temperature distribution, the thermal stresses of AISI D2 steel machined by EDM have been illustrated. It was found that the compressive thermal stresses were developed beneath the crater and the tensile stresses were occur away from the axis of symmetry however, the thermal stresses affects to a larger depth with increasing pulse energy.
