What is the prelim? The prelimwill be ashortvideowhichIwill produce inorderto show I am able
to editandstick to all the rulesof filming.Thisisapractise before filmingandeditingthe opening
scene of my thriller.
For the PrelimImust;
- Include ashot of someone walkingthroughadoor,and filmingthemgoingthroughitandcoming
out of it.
- Ensure there iscontinuitythe whole waythroughthe prelim.
- You can’t breakthe 180 degree rule,thisisbecause if it isbrokenitmaylooklike the actorsare
switchingsides.
- There mustalsobe a shotof someone walkingdownahall way.(Thiscan be themwalkingdowna
hall waybefore goingthrougha door.)
What I will do for my prelim
I will filmashotof Maisie walkingdownahall way to thenwalkthrougha door.I will filmhergoing
throughthe door and thenfilmhercomingoutthe door, I will have tomake sure thissectionof the
prelimalwayshascontinuityasthisisa sectionwhichthe continuitycouldbe broken.Once Maisie
has walkedthroughthe doorshe will thenmeetEllawhere theywillhave adiscussionwhentheyare
havingtheirdiscussionIwill needtoensure thatIdon’tbreakthe 180 degree rule andI will also
have to make sure that bothMaisie and Ellaspeakslowlycompare towhattheyusuallydothisis
because whenIwill be filmingfromanoverthe shoulderpointof view itmaylooktoquickand not
fitinwiththe prelim.
