Immigration Control
When presented with the question “How can you solve immigration?” I took it as very
ambiguous. I pondered on my opinion for a while wondering what my opinion even was on the
situation. How to solve immigration, I’m not sure. However, America is a nation built and
basedupon immigration. Its basis is freedom, liberty, and justice for all. I personally hold that
everyone should have the chance to gain freedom if they are able to attain it. The Dreamers that
are here in America have tasted freedom their whole lives, yet are stripped away from the
freedom to be employed or even drive a car. They have been raised as Americans; why not give
them that citizenship?
I’m not too positive as to what it takes to become a legal American citizen for an
immigrant. Although I see the current citizenship test we have now and believe it could be
modified. Most American-born individuals wouldn’t be able to pass the citizenship test
themselves. This just shows me that either we need to lower the score on the test for immigrants,
or we educate Americans in such a way that they should be able to pass with the same scores as
an immigrant would need. We need a citizenship test that is fair. Since America is a nation that is
based primarily on immigrant origins, we should become more pro-immigration. If it wasn’t for
immigration, the majority of citizens wouldn’t be here in America today. It is a great privilege to
live in the land of the free.
