human forces
⢠Begins with invocation
⢠Didactic in motif

and state of mind

⢠It includes cast of characters, a setting, action
with some degree of realism and an ending

⢠Stories with fully developed theme but
significantly shorter than novel

14. FABLES/ MYTHS/ FAIRY TALES
⢠Fables- a short story, with animals as
characters, conveying a moral
⢠Myth- a traditional story especially
concerning the early history of people
⢠Fairy Tales- Childrenâs Story about
magical and imaginary beings and lands.
16. Tragedy Comedy
⢠Tragedy- branch of drama that treats
serious , sorrowful or terrible events.
⢠Example- Sophoclesâ Oedipus Rex
⢠Comedy- drama which includes comical
elements and is intended for laughing
⢠Example- Jane Austenâs Pride and
prejudice
17. Melodrama/ Farce/ Satire
⢠Melodrama- a dramatic work that is intended
to elicit strong emotional reaction from the
audience
⢠Farce- type of comedy with ridiculous plots
and exaggerated characters.
⢠Satire- use of irony, humour to ridicule and
criticise peopleâs stupidity and vices.
