  • 2. CONTENT STANDARD/S 1.1 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. LEARNING STANDARD/S 1.1.1. Able to listen and respond to stimulus given with guidance. a) environmentalsounds e) voice sounds 1.1.3. Able to listen to, say aloud and recite rhymes or sing songs with guidance. 1.1.4. Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance. Stages/ Time Content Teaching Activities Learning Activities Rationale Set Induction Listening & Speaking (+6 min) A video clip CD with sounds (attached) (Whole Class) Teacher enters the classroom by playing handmade musical instrument calls flute. Teacher elicits pupils knowledge about the music instrument that the teacher have used. Pupils are expected to talk and guess the material used to produce the material.Teacher gives hints about the material .Pupils are asked to guess the topic of the lesson. Teacher writes the topic on the board and explains Pupils must find out it and open it. Pupils say the names and guess the sound. To arouse pupils’ interest Teacher tries to be cheerful and encourage pupils to listen to sounds from CD.

In the same time teacher asks the pupils to listen attentively to the CD player. Next teacher asks the pupils to guess the sound. Teacher gets the pupils to talk about the sounds. Sample of questions: i) What sound is it? ii) Where can you find this sound? iii) What sound do you like it? Pupils listen and talk about the sounds. Pupils share their experiences. Each group is given some waste materials such as group 1 (drum) ballons,tins and scissors;2nd group(guitar) tissue box,and scissors; 3rd group (xylophone) 5 glasses,coloured water and spoon; 4th group(shaker) plastic bottles, nuts(dhalls) Teacher gives the instruction paper and guide the pupils to create the music instruments. Teacher bids farewell and says we meet again next day. Pupils answer the questions. Pupils sing the song together. Pupils thanks teacher. Pupils clear up.
