There are many different definitions for
innovation; Merriam-Webster defines it as:
- The act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or
methods.
- The introduction of something new.
- A new idea, method, or device.
To us innovation means making an impact on society.
The bigger the impact, the greater the innovation. We use
this definition:
“Innovation is the creation and delivery of new
customer value in the marketplace, with a
sustainable business model.”

Who demands Innovation?
➢ Technology drives industry, industry demands innovation.
➢ The business itself demands innovation.
➢ Society demands innovation.
➢ Us individuals, employers, government, we all do.
We are in the midst of an era of new possibilities.
This means that the rules of business are being rewritten
almost daily.
Potential rewards as well as risks have never been greater.
Increasing revenue, profitability, customer service,
shareholder value, all depend on innovation.
Profitable innovation is a dynamic system of continuously
developing new business models, improving the customer
experience as well as launching new products and services.

When the process of innovation solves a problem.
It’s important to understand the customers needs, because
they don’t always know what their needs/wants are.
When you have a solution that puts the customer in the
center and understand well their problem needs, the
innovation is successful.

Is Innovation necessary?
Innovation brings to people what they did not ask to satisfy
what they needed.
When someone comes along and sees beyond the status
quo, sees things that others missed, others ignored, things
that have been long since forgotten about.
Is up to the people/customer to decide whether or not they
like and celebrate the discovery, some protest the
innovation, some claim that is invalid or imaginary.
Yet is these new innovations that potentially change
everything, like the wheels, cars, the internet, computer,
smartphone...
The importance of innovation is increasing significantly.
Currently, innovation has become a major factor in
influencing strategic planning.
It has been acknowledged that innovation leads to wealth
creation.

What is NOT Innovation?
INNOVATION IS NOT ALL ABOUT IDEAS
- A great idea is a solid foundation for
innovation and is a pivotal part of the
innovation journey. But an idea by itself is
worthless unless something is done with it.
Ideas are just near the start of an arduous
process requiring a lot of hard work. It
should start with strategy, then there
should be a clear view of customer needs,
habits, beliefs, practices etc, to use as
stimuli for the creative phase. Once the
idea has been generated, it must be
validated. And then the really hard work
starts – development, implementation and
market growth.

What is NOT Innovation?
INVENTION IS NOT INNOVATION - Investment in
technology at the front end doesn’t immediately result in
innovation, it results in inventions. An invention by itself is
essentially worthless. It only has a tradeable value if
somebody else wants to buy it. It is only once it is exploited
and starts adding value that it becomes innovation. Original
inventions can be protected through intellectual property
such as a patent. But the fact that the vast majority of
registered patents are never exploited underlines the point
that an invention is a precursor to innovation.
INNOVATION IS NOT CREATIVITY, but you can put
creativity to your innovation. Creativity is generating an
idea. Innovation is generating a solution to a problem.
TO BE DIFFERENT IS NOT INNOVATION - It does take into
account to be different, but it doesn’t solve any problem.

PRACTICAL INNOVATION:
PROGRAMME AND OBJECTIVES
It helps innovators see beyond current
convention, counters the natural risk
aversion that large companies have
to innovate, and mobilizes employees to
accomplish their goal.
In short, innovation is the only way to
change the rules of the game for lasting
advantage.

come together to create an
innovation blueprint, and an
Innovation Architect needs to
acquire the skills to master each.

Remembering that innovation is a tool to
serve company.
2. The ability to identify innovation
building blocks:
We have to understand what are the main
components of building across
organizational innovation program.

3. The ability to harness internal support
and pirkeur (represents ambition,
independence, strength, reliability,
determination, and professionalism) the

This will ensure the long term impact of the
innovation efforts.
4. The ability to develop an innovation
blueprint:
Innovation architects needs to design a plan, we
need to think how to roll out the innovation program,
creating traction and results.

innovation metrics:
PROGRAMME AND OBJECTIVES
Innovation architects needs to know
what are the KPIs (Key Performance
Indicator) that needs to be measured
in different stages of the program, this
will allow us to adapt in real time, and
creating an impact for the long term.

To us innovation means making an impact on society. The bigger the impact, the greater the innovation. We use this definition: “Innovation is the creation and delivery of new customer value in the marketplace, with a sustainable business model.” Definition of Innovation:

We are in the midst of an era of new possibilities. This means that the rules of business are being rewritten almost daily. Potential rewards as well as risks have never been greater. Increasing revenue, profitability, customer service, shareholder value, all depend on innovation. Profitable innovation is a dynamic system of continuously developing new business models, improving the customer experience as well as launching new products and services.

It’s important to understand the customers needs, because they don’t always know what their needs/wants are. When you have a solution that puts the customer in the center and understand well their problem needs, the innovation is successful. Innovation brings to people what they did not ask to satisfy what they needed. When someone comes along and sees beyond the status quo, sees things that others missed, others ignored, things that have been long since forgotten about. Is up to the people/customer to decide whether or not they like and celebrate the discovery, some protest the innovation, some claim that is invalid or imaginary. Yet is these new innovations that potentially change everything, like the wheels, cars, the internet, computer, smartphone... The importance of innovation is increasing significantly. Currently, innovation has become a major factor in influencing strategic planning. It has been acknowledged that innovation leads to wealth creation.

INNOVATION IS NOT ALL ABOUT IDEAS - A great idea is a solid foundation for innovation and is a pivotal part of the innovation journey. But an idea by itself is worthless unless something is done with it. Ideas are just near the start of an arduous process requiring a lot of hard work. It should start with strategy, then there should be a clear view of customer needs, habits, beliefs, practices etc, to use as stimuli for the creative phase. Once the idea has been generated, it must be validated. And then the really hard work starts – development, implementation and market growth.

INVENTION IS NOT INNOVATION - Investment in technology at the front end doesn’t immediately result in innovation, it results in inventions. An invention by itself is essentially worthless. It only has a tradeable value if somebody else wants to buy it. It is only once it is exploited and starts adding value that it becomes innovation. Original inventions can be protected through intellectual property such as a patent. But the fact that the vast majority of registered patents are never exploited underlines the point that an invention is a precursor to innovation. INNOVATION IS NOT CREATIVITY, but you can put creativity to your innovation. Creativity is generating an idea. Innovation is generating a solution to a problem. TO BE DIFFERENT IS NOT INNOVATION - It does take into account to be different, but it doesn’t solve any problem.

In short, innovation is the only way to change the rules of the game for lasting advantage.

PROGRAMME AND OBJECTIVES 1. The ability to set innovation objectives: Remembering that innovation is a tool to serve company. 2. The ability to identify innovation building blocks: We have to understand what are the main components of building across organizational innovation program.

The ability to harness internal support and pirkeur (represents ambition, independence, strength, reliability, determination, and professionalism) the additional resources needed to be supplemented: This will ensure the long term impact of the innovation efforts. 4. The ability to develop an innovation blueprint: Innovation architects needs to design a plan, we need to think how to roll out the innovation program, creating traction and results.

The ability to set and to manage innovation metrics: PROGRAMME AND OBJECTIVES Innovation architects needs to know what are the KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) that needs to be measured in different stages of the program, this will allow us to adapt in real time, and creating an impact for the long term.
