Conducting a comprehensive literature review on the latest laws, regulation, standards, and guidelines related
to accessibility in the public right-of-way
Recommending content for accessibility to be hosted on Illinois Department of Transportation website, and
Developing a comprehensive and practical field guide to verify compliance of public right-of-way elements
during construction and inspection.
Mentoring Undergraduates in Science and Engineering (MUSE) program (Fall and Spring 2015), University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Mentored undergraduate students in the electrical engineering program, working the average of 5 hours a week
during Fall semester of 2015 and Spring semester of 2016.
Mentored students through the process of learning computer vision and machine learning techniques, and
supervised a yearlong project to demonstrate their abilities in these two fields.
This mentorship also extended to include discussions and guidance about the mentees’ course selection and
education planning.

Langan Engineering and Environmental Services (2016)
Conducted field visits to plan data acquisition tasks; Performed 3D laser scanning related tasks in the field;
Processed and registered the acquired 3D laser scanning data; Modeled existing conditions of scanned projects
using AutoCAD, Revit, and other software packages; Verified the quality and accuracy of 3D models;
Wrote and prepared proposals, project scopes, estimates, and project budgets and reports; Participated in client
and regulatory meetings; Prepared and performed QA/QC procedures to ensure the level of service provided to
clients;
Developed and updated office standards to measure and verify the quality of scanning and modeling
deliverables; prepared, updated, and tested office BIM execution plans;
Created and updated tools for Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) applications; Implemented new
technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of survey/scanning/modeling/facility-
management/asset-management workflow;
Established company-wide understanding of the services provided and technologies developed by the survey

Integrated Design & Consultation Center. “IDCC” (2007-2013)
BIM specialist supervised the migration of the entire firm to BIM platforms using Autodesk Revit. Created and
supervised the production of several BIM models.
Senior architect and design team leader in many projects including residential, educational, healthcare,
entertainment, office and landscape projects. Also participated in making many architectural physical and 3D
models for both presentation and study purposes.

Hamza & Associates (2005-2007)
Team member in an architectural design group, responsible for producing all phases of a project from basic
architectural program and concept to executive drawings and tender documents, participated in projects like a
resort in Sharm El-Sheikh, hospital in Cairo and a university in Yemen.

Participated in designing and developing environmental studies for many projects in Port Said, including
residential buildings and recreational clubs. Followed the stage of design to participate as a team member in

RESEARCH PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign
Development of public right-of-way accessibility guidelines resource materials (Fall 2013 – Fall 2015).
This $220,000 project was sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The project focused on:
Capturing, analyzing, and producing 3D point clouds of existing sidewalks in the public right-of-way.
Recommending accessibility related content to be hosted on an IDOT website.
Developing a comprehensive and concise field guide to be used by site engineers and inspectors.
Creating e-learning modules to explain accessibility requirements.
Investigating the implementation of camera and depth sensors in monitoring construction sites (Fall 2015).
This project was part of a larger project by Professor Mani Golparvar-Fard that focused on:

Revolutionizing the process of monitoring and control of construction sites by utilizing unmanned aerial
vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).
Investigating the possibility of crowdsourcing the process of collecting site images and data through attaching
sensors to construction workers.
