FINGERPRINTS
- an impression left by the friction ridges of
a human finger.
- natural secretions of sweat from
the eccrine glands that are present in
epidermal ridges.

3. 3 MAIN CATEGORIES
• Visible fingerprints
- easily to spot which are left by dirt,
grease, blood, etc.
• Impression fingerprints
- which are made indentation in soft
material like butter, putty, tar, etc.
• Latent fingerprint
- processing to make visible and suitable
for analysis.

5. BROAD CATEGORIZATION OF FINGERPRINTS
• Arch, loop & whorl.

6. Factors that affects the endurance of
fingerprints:
• Amount of fatty material in deposit
• Temperature
• Relative humidity
• Air Current
• Exposure to sun
