2. INTRODUCTION
• Palm vein technology is one of the upcoming
technology.
• It is the world’s first contactless personal identification
system that uses the vein patterns in human palms to
confirm a person’s identity.
• It is highly secure and accurate.
• The contact less feature gives it a hygienic advantage
over other biometric authentication technologies.
• It uses the vascular patterns of an individual’s palm as
personal identification data.
3. • It is one of the biometric authentication
technology.
• There are some other types of
biometric Authentications like:
Fingerprint recognisation
Face recognisation
Voice recognisation
IRIS scan
4. PALM VEIN TECHNOLOGY
• It is developed by FUJITSU research group.
• Palm vein authentication technology works by
comparing the pattern of veins.
• The veins present in the palm of the individuals
are scanned and verified thus providing the
access.
• Palm vein authentication has a high level of
accuracy due to the uniqueness and complexity
of vein pattern in the palm.
5. Registering through palm vein scanner
• Place the hand near the scanner.
• Sensor scans the vein pattern.
• vein pattern along with personal
details are stored in database.
7. Working...
• The scanner emits infared light,
hemoglobin in the veins absorbs
the light.
• creating an image of vein pattern
that is reflected back and captured
by the scanner.
• Image is converted by algorithms into data
pionts, which is then encrypted and compressed.
• The scan is stored in the database.
• A returning user’s vein pattern is compare
aganist the database to determine if there
is a match.
8. Security provided
• Vein system has False Rejection Rate of 0.01%
and False Acceptance Rate of 0.00008%.
• If profile is registered with right hand, we can’t
log in with left hand as palm pattern of both hand
are different.
• If we registered our profile as a child,it still can be
recognised as we grow,as an individual.
• Palm vein pattern of identical twins are also
different.
9. If the palm gets damaged
• Registering both palms during
registration.
• The vein pattern of the other palm
can be used if one palm is damaged.
10. Contact less palm vein technology
• The contact less feature of this device
make it suitable for use where high level
of hygiene are required.
• eliminates any hesitation people might
have about coming into contact with something
that other people have already touched.
12. APPLICATIONS
Banking and ATM’s:
• The application of Biometric solutions
in the bank’s and ATM’s provide high
server security and it avoids card
forgery.
• At an ATM the client can authorize by
scanning his palm vein pattern & let
the ATM compare it with palm vein
pattern stored in database.
13. Personal computers and
Laptops:
• For authorized LOGIN into
personal computers.
• For folder security and to protect
input and output data.
14. ID cards and passports:
• Used to avoid forgery of passports
and ID cards,where Biometric data
is embedded in documents.
• It is very ideal for such applications
as the palm vein pattern is almost
impossible to forge.
15. In Hospitals:
• In medical environment there is a demand for
especially hygienic biometric devices.
• Palm secure devices is used in hospitals for
doctor and patient’s identification.
16. Home Appliances:
• In front of the doors as a door
lock to protect entrances and exit.
• It is also used in laboratories
where high security is maintained.
17. ADVANTAGES
• No more problems of forgetting passwords & ID’s.
• It is difficult to forge for intruders.
• It is not affected by dryness or roughness of skin or by
physical injury on surface of the hand.
• It has an FRR of 0.01% and FAR of less than 0.00008%.
This is based on experiments conducted on 70,000
individuals in Japan.
• Skin color does not affects the scanner outcomes.
• This technology is non-intrusive.
18. DISADVANTAGES
• There are numerous factors that can
affect the quality of the captured image
such as body temperature, humidity, heat
radiation, nearness of vein to surface,
camera calibration and focus.
• It is still relatively expensive and not
available for mass production yet.
19. CONCLUSION
• Usage of this tecnology gives accurate results.
• It can be used in several organizations to
increase security.
• If the technology is introduced in our country
we can solve many problems such as password
theft,in ATM,security in various fields.
• The technology is gaining momentum but it is
still expensive and relatively untested because it
has not yet been marketed globally.
