Dear Ms. McIntosh:
My name is Audra Alger and I am a senior at Centennial High school. I am currently enrolled in a
class called Professional Internship. I hope by this internship, I can determine what I want to do
for a future career. I would love to work with you as an intern and have more experience with
early childhood education.
Working with young children is a strong passion of mine. In the past few years, I have gotten
experience working with children. I work at an after school program called ‘Kid Zone’ for kids
from the ages of six to thirteen in the Peoria Unified School District. Through my job, I’ve
learned to positively redirect and discipline children properly so that they can learn from their
actions. I can handle commotion and can stay very calmat stressful times. I also teach lessons
and guide them in the class. For example, the students completed a science experiment in a
bottle with yeast, hydrogen peroxide and soap. The students had it explode out of the
container, and enjoyed getting messy and participating in a hands-on task.
A family friend that I have met through church, trusted me to babysit their two children, one at
the age of two years old and the other at the age of three months old. We did activities and
played games to strengthen their motor skills like hot potato and jump rope.
I am looking forward to the hiring interview with you or another hiring personnel. I have heard
great things about your day care. I would love an opportunity to work and get more experience
for myself. If there is an opening at your internship, my phone number is 623-824-6440. My
resume is attached for you to review.
Sincerely,
Audra Alger
